Ralph , Wm's got some fancy tracking antenna's ! But wouldn't they work better on the roof ? IDK ? Maybe it's just easier for him to mount them there & they do there job well enough .

Also - I’m not actually running a Wilson antenna, just the mount. I have a President Texas on it at the moment.
I do like the Wilsons, however, other than recent concerns about quality. The older ones were good antennas that not only worked well, but seemed to hold up great too. They’re ubiquitous with hunting trucks around here, and we even run them on heavy equipment with kinked up whips...for the most part they just keep ticking. Issues are usually pinched coax and not an antenna fault.

The rear one might be in the way if he uses that as a rigging box.
I been running my Stryker Sra-10 mag mount on my Explorer going on 4 years w/ no issues I leave the base on & unscrew the top section & put supplied rain cap on when it goes in for repairs . As of late that's been often . Going into transmission shop tomorrow & that antenna will never see the Explorer again ! Putting on my Inherited Lariat PU from My Wife & this time I can get it in the center of the Cab ! But I have checked , No Sparks , No Arc's ! But I only run 250w through it & No matter what Iv'e hit with it , Magnet stays put .

No one told you that it’s not possible to talk without drilling a hole?
You could probably talk around the solar system if you just broke out the drill.
I think I’m going to put one of those tripods on my roof - welded, not drilled - and run a A99 on it.

But here's the deal , The Lariat Cab is huge compared to the Explorer , still can't mount anything under the Dash ! I been looking @ a $30 multi angle mounting bracket so " Maybe " I can mount my gear instead of using my go box sitting on the passengers seat !

There is no where to mount stuff in vehicles these days.
dled , Iv'e chatted w/ England & South Africa on that antenna during the last cycle . Cornwell England almost daily , leave my driveway & chat w/ my friends across the pond . Mag mounts are just easy , I'm Lazy & haven't drilled a hole in a vehicle since my 1963 Ford Econoline Van . For my whip .

I am exactly the same way. Can’t fairly call it procrastination, but I tend to put off changing things that work so that I can do other things!

I didn’t know you ran a farm. I’ve worked on one (as a mechanic), and owned a sawmill for a couple years. That’s about as close as I come!
Wife & I just have or small farm on 4ac now . I retired from a 200ac Dairy Farm 3 years ago , we milked 120 @ one time . Now just a Horse , Chickens , a Rabbit , Cat's & My Dog . Good thing is my land abuts a State Preserve over 2000 ac behind me . Also ran a Wood Miser when we had time off from daily farm duties .

Leo my uncle had a dairy farm in Blum Texas. God I loved to go visit. Got me hooked on the 4020 John Deere diesel tractor!!!

Having fun with anything Texan tickles me lately. As what made those stretches of “truth” is almost gone now. Fourth graders in this state are now but 27% Texan.
I’ve been pleased enough with Wilson antennas.
Except a Lil Will mag mount . . . .
