Ok ok, i understand there are lots an lots of stupid people who will pay anything for a used cb radio but this is out of control already. $150 for a GE 40ch, $200 used galaxy 959, $100 sbe 23ch, $700 cobra 2000, etc etc. I see people buying used radios for more than a new one costs. Like the 959. I know its mostly an ebay thing, all cb radios are rare, vintage, collectors item yada yada yada. Pshhh. But it is spilling out into the other places too, like craigslist etc. "Well i can get $$$ for it on ebay" "on ebay they sell for" omg, stop! I cant even buy a used cb anymore without spending hundreds of dollars. This is just stupid already. And its not just radios, its almost everything cb related, weird. radio shack stock mic $ 30, rare vintage used antron 99 antenna $150 hahaha, and the amps? Well, yea those too. Just had to vent. I was looking at e bay for a used ssb radio and i was like wtf! All the prices for everything are out the roof. Ridiculous

Yeah it’s pretty stupid. I’ve messaged people on eBay asking questions like, so does it work. And they get offended. I will never buy another radio from eBay. I’ve had better luck with shopgoodwill.com until the virus hit, now there’s not much on there. The prices get to high sometimes, but it wasn’t as bad as eBay most of the time.

A bummer you only have one old 23-channel to work with, daily. What with the availability of crystals, and all.

So, new production has ceased? The overseas containers quit arriving?

We were buying tired muscle cars for $15-1800 in the mid-1970s in a condition they’d sell for $50k today. So?

Mistaken the device for the use?

There’s little as stupid as a muscle car. Maybe a Harley.
Transportation, is the point.

Radio Comms means knowing something about conversation.

If ya kicked Bennies butt and cleaned up on the price of entry, why the tail-chasing now? You might have a few decades worth of gear already.

As, you were ahead of the curve, but now consider it bad luck?

.

Well guys I tried to come up with a plan to buy nonworking used radios and restore them and then sell them much more reasonable than what we see on eBay but I couldn't even buy used to radio's none-working for a price that made any sense.

Shipping, the problem. Throughout history. A standing offer to buy is usually enough. But, getting it, the deal-killer.

Standing Offer will work when the supply of new is constrained or ended. But it also means living where your supply of used gear is already extant.

If I really wanted to be in business with this it would be to offer package deals. (Only).

Radio + Antenna + Associated.

Push a button and PayPal magic occurs

Its called supply and demand.
Im one of those db's with a high priced Cobra 2k on Ebunk and Offerup.
I challenge you to find an unmolested 2k in the box for less than what im selling mine for. You also have to remember folks who sell on Ebunk pay a HIGH premium. For me to make this one sale will cost $150+ in fees. You think im going to eat all that? Hells NO im not.
Thats the price of the convenience of having EVERYTHING in one place for us to buy amd sell.
People can set any price they want but if you filter your results to "Sold Items" you will see what these items really sell for.

That is ridiculous. When there is a high demand and lots of product and competition prices go down. Basic economics. No, what your seeing is one fool bought a used cb for $300, then another seller said oh look, one sold fo that much im gonna do it to. And it goes on and on, now you have this inflated market because people charge what they want and others buy it,. Now ebay is the go to bluebook for prices on everything, not just radios. If people stop paying stupid prices, prices go down cause they want to sell this cb junk they have. No use for. And no, i would never Ever pay more than $150 for a mint cobra 2k. Pshh, its a cb radio not the holy grail of transceivers. $600 for a cobra 2k, hahaha. Rather get a used kenwood or yaesu and smoke that chump

And thats your choice. You can still buy a new Kenwood but Cobra stopped making the 2k in 1994 almost 30 years ago. To find one that hasnt been modified 50 times is next to impossible. 99% of whats left have at least one drill hole in it.
Ultimately if you dont like the price dont buy it, its that easy.
Youre limited to what ham radios you can run on 11m and only a few of them dont sound like poop.
