My other money pit

Well I had the car on the road for a little while, but had a bad vibration at times. I wound up slinging the driveshaft.

Anyway I went the right way and had the rear end rebuilt. I went with a 3.55 gear, so I should be fairly happy with that and the 700r4 transmission.Caltracs has been added the car as well. Hopefully it will be back on the road in a week or so. I will need to do a 500 mile break in.

Then maybe I can upgrade the heads and cam and see what the ole engine got in it. I am having the work done by a mechanic friend of mine. I am just the loose nut behind the wheel.

I got the rear-end back and my mechanic friend installed it plus a caltrac system with split mono leaf spring.
I finally got to take the car on a quick trip again. Everything seems good so far. I put about 150 miles on the new rear end now.

I took this picture on my drive. That sign was there when I was a kid. There is one on each side of town.

I took the ole Chevy ii out for a trip in the hill country northwest of San Antonio this morning. It was a pretty fun ride. There are some good windy roads out there and some good places to kick the four barrel in. Even though my 355 is mild it was still plenty fun. Really wanting a 383 under the hood! I really like the 700r4 transmission so much better then the turbo 350 it had. It makes for a great cruiser.

That will surely make the go fast pedal tons of fun. Will you be able to keep tires on the back of the car? I know in my younger days, I kept the tire companies in business. Haha!
I'm hoping to have a little fun. Not planning on putting on a smoke show. That said I probably will get another set of rear wheels and tires to be ready to go. I have too much invested in it to tear it up. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to drive.

Getting closer to getting the Nova back on the road. We ran into issues with the driver's side valve cover not fitting due to the alternator and brake booster.

So, I got a smaller alternator and eliminated the brake booster. I will see how that goes hahahaha. I guess my right leg will get a workout.

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine in the car. I like the Mickey Thompson valve covers but may go with the engine builder's for now.

Sorry for the multiple pictures. I'm having a difficult time editing this post with my phone.

I just have the alternator sitting in place for now.
