Anytone at-5555 PLUS

OK, my apologies. The Service Menu has the options to adjust / set the low and high dead-key carrier and those are the only two settings I adjusted.
From what I have read, there are seven or eight clones of the 5555 and I can only assume that each clones has its own software program.
My friend has not located the Reset Function instructions on his HS4.
If indeed it is a clone as I feel it is, the same procedure for changing it from 1 band to 2 band also has the Reset option.

Keep in mind that the reset function is only good for changes made in the standard menu and not the Service menu.

Before starting you must have the radio hooked to a dummy load or antenna. Also get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP even if you don't plan on changing anything. Scroll through each menu item and view the data and WRITE IT DOWN!!! Make a spread sheet of the menu item and parameters.

Service menu is accessed by starting with the radio in the off state, press and hold function key and continue to hold while powering on the radio, continue to hold the function key then press the other keys on the top row one at a time and in order then release function key.

Menu items are scrolled with the channel selector. You can view the data of selected menu item by keying the mic. You change data by keying the mic and using the channel selector. Once things are set how you want power cycle the radio.

FM high power is menu 8

FM low power is menu 9

FM modulation is menu 11

AM high power is menu 15

AM low power is menu 16

AM low power modulation is menu 18

AM high power modulation is menu 19

SSB high power limiter is menu 21

SSB low power limiter is menu 22

SSB low power is menu 25

SSB high power is menu 26

Those are the main ones that most ppl can set themselves.

On the AM modulation adjustments smaller values equals more modulation(Less AMC clamping).

Like I said before WRITE EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER DOWN, ALL 53 OF THEM!!!

Don't break you radios! I'm not liable! These are alignment settings, resting the radio will have no effect on these!

Factory Default Values on my AT-5555 Plus:
#8-205, #9-70, #10-2723, #11-1330, #12-65239, #13-516, #14-518, #15-185(10 watt carrier), #16-83 (1.5 watt carrier), #17-1362, #18-145, #19-217, #20-65216, #21-233, #22-89, #23-140 and #24-140.
The values on my friend's Retevis HS4 are fairly close within two to four number differences.

Ok I think I remember something about this radio from a you tube video that I cant seem to find.

There are two versions of this radio, one with noise reduction (DSP) and one without. If you want the noise reduction, which is the best selling feature, you have to get the "N" version. The box explains this.

There is an AT-5555 Plus and a AT-5555 Plus N. Let's not confuse these two radios with the AT-5555N II. My friend specifically ordered the AT-5555 Plus N but he received the AT-5555 N II. My question/concern is, can the human ear detect the difference between the noise reduction on the AT-5555 Plus and the improved noise reduction on the AT-5555 Plus N, or is it something that can only be detected and verified with test equipment?

From what I understand the 5555+ does not have the noise reduction feature, only the +N does. The N2 also has the noise reduction and should be the same as the +N in that regard.

From what I have read, you are correct. Do I need to have one of each, side-by-side to compare and listen if there is an improvement of the noise reduction feature? Haven't seen the cost of the N version compared to the non-N version.

Can anyone comfirm which anytone software will work on my retevis hs4 ? They are apparently updating their site and the software from them is not available for now. I grabbed the file at_5555_Setup_7.01 from anytone site but have not yet tried. I guess shouldnt hurt to try :)

@Pez is very good with the software for these radios.
I tagged him in this post maybe he will chime in.

The noise reduction DSP makes a huge difference, it is like night and day. It is equivalent or better than the West Mountain DSP.

I haven't been successful with locating a new "N" version. I received this from MOONRAKER in the United Kingdom. Tough to believe that the factory would ship a new radio to a distributor or dealer like this.

I don’t know if they ever released the plus "N". There was a lot of talk in the early birth of those radios but have yet to see the "plus N" even in a video. Only the plus and it's clones so far.

I remember talk about the plusN too but like you I'm not sure it was ever released. I know I've never talked to anybody using one.......
I have a feeling that once they came out with the original 5555N2 they decided not to release the plusN.

Pez would know for sure; hopefully he'll jump in here so we can all stop wondering!

There are two United Kingdom resources claiming to have the "N" version, but as you can see in my previous post, the photo which MOONRAKER provided is not convincing.
