11 meter is very quiet?

Thanks to the squirrel, the power was cycled
That's hilarious! Here it's flocks of birds that routinely explode themselves on the power lines.......

Absolute gong show on the radio today.....Sunday and good conditions makes the radio pretty unuseable. I literally have giant pileups of stations on every channel, and all at S9+. Too much of a good thing LOL! Even the channels above 40 are busy as heck. Did make a couple contacts on 26.915 AM.....its' a lot quieter down there!

I just come in from the shack and made several contacts, conditions are superb today. Even talked to New York under the blanket of snow. But, as you stated, lots of traffic... and people tell me "nobody does CB anymore"

I am on 37LSB, 426 in the TX Bayou

I got my Expedition out of the shop ( Runs Great ) but no time to set it up proper so had a road trip today so just to have something in there to play with I put the Mckinley in there with my KL 200P (Temporary set up ) and Tram 300 Ant. on the roof. I did manage to squeeze out a Florida contact so was happy to see my Quicky worked out. But traffic wasn't Hot & Heavy. Deer season is going to get in the way for a couple weeks but the cold weather is going to Cool my Heals after that. LOL

Ended up having some really great QSO's yesterday! I landed on one of my favorite frequencies above 40 and ended up talking to several folks for two hours straight.
The ability to have these kinds of conversations is the main thing that keeps me off the regular channels and up in the freeband.

I really appreciate having long interesting QSO's like that.........there was a LOT more of that kind of thing back in the 80's and 90's and I often lament how nowadays most contacts are really brief....just a sig report and then, oh, conditions are changing or whatever and it's on to the next one. Seems that as a society we are losing the ability to have actual conversations about interesting subjects!
Great to know there are still folks out there who can actually converse. Wish I could tell you the frequency but every time I do that it attracts trolls who ruin it...so y'all will just have to search around until you find me LOL!

I know what you mean. I normally only get to have a real conversation early in them morning between 5-7AM. Not long after that its just how you explained. during the day I only have long QSO's on 40 or 80 meter, sometimes 160 meter.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm up there a lot and enjoy the conversations. Whenever the conversation is over, then someone is waiting and will call, then we start another good qso. No interruptions, no music or any of the other BS. Just good people talking.

I get up over 405 often.

Shitty neighbors can be a major PITA. When we lived in SoCal, our Korean neighbors had a tiny dog that barked 24/7. Totally annoying. I asked them politely to quiet it down. Their reply- " No speakee English."
I recorded their dog for about an hour's worth to take to the city to complain. Before I could do that, they had a party in their backyard for a bunch of friends. I put our stereo on the back porch, fired up the recording, and let it play (at high volume) all afternoon. Never heard their dog again.

Dog. BBQ. Never heard the dog again. ???

I agree. I had a good conversation with a guy from Athens Georgia one night, we talked about college football for about 45 minutes. But i can't lie i still enjoy the quick get your numbers maybe a weather report and then we're on our way to the next one. But i get it, just a normal conversation with someone is nice.

Pretty much. I laugh about that with my wife and call it "can you hear me now?" calls.

Although I do admit that I will partake if it is a country I've never reached, like Japan last week on 50 Watts, that was a first.
Or.. when I'm QRP and able to contact Kuwait or the US.
But yes.. just making contact to get a report gets boring very quickly.

I call them contesters with no contest keeping in practice! LOL. I heard Kuwait yesterday on 28.5??, he was pretty busy. I at least like to exchange working condition and such. I think I irritate some when I go into that and dont just give them a call sign and 59 report. I will also do the 59 deal if I need them. I think its funny when they have to go back and forth 6+ times to get a call sign right and then say your 59!!!! WTF!!!!
