11 meter is very quiet?

Does any of you hear that "kid" (got to be) that just blows on a kazoo or duck call, which ever it is?
Haven't Heard that one yet. I just get the multiple 1111111 guys, the air raid siren, the crying baby, the Fox news simulcast, & the auuuuuuuuddioooooo army. Today there was also a recording of some guy saying "I wish I had a big radio" over and over. Yesterday there were 1111111 guys on both 37 & 38 at the same time.....

I'm thinking this kazoo guy is local to me. A last weekend I made a trip to the scrapyard south of me through back country roads and he was getting stronger in my mobile with no special ears. There is also a kid sounding voice soliciting a "popsicle"

Finally getting my little station together. I bought a Sirio Monsoon 5/8 ground plane antenna. I put it together Saturday and only have it temporarily mounted at only a couple of feet off the ground. I hope to get it up to 20-25 feet.
The SWR's are 1.1 on channel on and below and about 1.4 on channel 40. I haven't messed with the tuning coil yet.

That being said, I made many AM contacts to the East and West coast and up North as well. I was finally able to talk to Australia on ssb a few times which I just couldn't seem to do with my inverted v. The V worked good and maybe a few feet higher would have got me better results.
I was finally able to hit a youtube channel that is in Washington state and hit them with a solid s5 to s7 signal on channel channel 17 AM.
Maybe it was just great conditions this weekend, but so far I am really digging this Monsoon antenna. I do plan on putting aftermarket bolts and nuts at the sections.
Here is a poor picture of my radio set up for right now. I have been working my old Magnum s45 with a little help lately.
I get good reports with it.

That is a nice looking antenna, almost bought one. I ended up getting a Sirio GPS 27 because I didn't want any radials at my mother in-laws house.

For the antenna tubes, I always slit the ends with a hack saw and use stainless hose clamps. Between the joints, I use anti size with metal in it to keep moisture out. Also helps with conductivity.

Best of luck,
Chris

I run a Sirio 2008, on 20ft of tower, and I have to say that I am impressed with the performance of it. I just purchased a Sirio 4 element beam and working on getting an old 36ft of tower together on a hinge plate. I am too old, and too heavy, to be climbing these days.
