Thanks for the update Jeff. I have no idea what part of the L.A. area Tim is in, but with the way things are at the moment it could be anywhere. The whole area looks bad.
I have always said that unless life is at stake, you better have your ducks in a row and a full bank account. Just because YOU think something is an emergency does not mean authorities will see it the same way.
My problem is that I keep forgetting that other people do not treat things the way I do especially when it comes to ensuring NOTHING happens to it. Most people figure WTF a little scratch won't hurt anything. It will still perform fine. I figure that if I can own something for 20 years and it...
Many years ago I dabbled a bit with RTTY and SSTV and a bit of PSK but just to say I did it. I will ALWAYS resort to SSB as it is more personal. As for FT-8...........I want to talk to someone, not have my computer talk to someone else's computer.
When I replaced the USB-C charge/data port on my tablet a couple of years ago, it was no soldering required. I got the new part off Amazon for $20. It was a bit tricky opening it up and getting too it to replace it but it was not that bad and FAAARR cheaper than replacing it. It was a $600...
I have an RCA 44B microphone that is still in pretty decent condition considering its age. It was a studio microphone used in the very early days of the broadcasting company I used to work for. The ribbon is still in decent condition and the microphone still works. From some of the recent ads I...

Whiteastro what you want is simply a 1/8 inch mono plug. They are pretty much the standard audio plug. The other standard is a 1/4 inch mono plug.

Did you happen to drop by the house sometime while I was out? LOL Yup........I need to clean up the yard, cut the old bushes around and chip it, help my cousin rebuild and get the bridge across the river reinstalled next summer, build a new deck/patio, take my tower down and convert it to a...
Thanks Jeff. I was away all day today and yesterday as well and didn't get to check things as much as I would have liked. Still trying to navigate the new phone, plus I have been somewhat preoccupied lately with my upcoming retirement after which I should be around a bit more.
The way I have been feeling lately, I think you may be right. LOL Yes....old age.....with twelve shifts left before seven weeks vacation followed by permanent retirement I will have to agree with you about the old age setting in.
You are right. I had a brain fart. The 807 is basically a 6L6 on steroids. Both are electrically similar. Older broadcast transmitters used 807 in both the RF driver stage as well as in the audio stages from preamp up to modulator drivers. No idea why I said 811A. Must have posted that before my...
