What is the best Braid to use for removal of solder.

FWIW I have used both Chem-Wick and MG Chemicals and like both. They come in various size braids so choose the appropriate size and you should be good. Sometimes on an old joint I will add fresh solder before desoldering tghe entire thing.

WTB Quansheng/Anysecu UV 5K Setup as Single Band 11 Meter

Yeah, OK then. I knew for a FACT it was NOT able to do as stated with a simple software mod even with a firmware update.

WTB Quansheng/Anysecu UV 5K Setup as Single Band 11 Meter

That is a VHF/UHF hand held with FM only and a range of 50-600 MHz. Full power and all modes on 11m? Is it April 1 already?

    Summer has arrived!!

That is almost disgusting. My cold water runs around 52-53 degrees.........summer or winter. Then again it comes from 100 feet down in the well. Had to install temperature balancing taps in the shower to keep from getting scalded if the wife started the laundry while someone was in the shower.

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

On any reasonable run of cable the dielectric losses of the cable will far outweigh any ohmic losses in the centre conductor. IOW.......don't worry about splitting hairs over whether the centre conductor is solid or stranded unless a rotator is involved and then there is NO question that...

Who else thinks they are blocking the skip with chemtrails or haarp?

I have seen pictures of the aliens captured at Area 51 back in 1947 too, but that doesn't mean the pictures were real.

Who else thinks they are blocking the skip with chemtrails or haarp?

I think he is saying sit back, chill out, have a beer and learn something about CONtrails.

Who else thinks they are blocking the skip with chemtrails or haarp?

Well the several Earth directed CME's over the last several days has a LOT to do with it. Sunspots=good. CME=bad.

    Freebanding for Beginners

OK call me brave but since I am on a laptop with REAL virus protection I clicked on his link above. All good as far as I can see. I won't comment as to quality but will let others decide for themselves. All I will say is that I have no problem looking at his stuff which is stored on a cloud-drive.

    Portable Generator Power Quality Questions

I have never had a problem with my generator. I know the waveform looks pretty clean but honestly never really looked at it REAL close, mostly because I never had a problem. The brand is a Wallenstein, made in Ontario Canada. It uses an Italian made alternator unit driven by a 13 hp Honda engine...

    TV Commercial Volume Stabilized.

To be completely honest, I wasn't even thinking about digital TV. I’m still stuck in an analog world. LOL You could be right about the higher dynamic range available. Something else to consider too is the knowledge........or lack thereof.....in today's broadcast techs. Back in my day, we did...

    TV Commercial Volume Stabilized.

Yeah.....that's not exactly what they do nor is it the reason they do it. For YEARS commercials have seemed louder than program content due too higher compression levels. Compression can have the same peak volume level but higher average levels which is what makes the commercials sound louder...

    Landslide blocks river in BC

Yeah I forgot the year they had the big burn but that is sure a big part of it. With the recent rains the entire area was pretty much saturated with water. That along with not much for vegetation to hold things in place is what lead to the slide.

    Landslide blocks river in BC

They expected it to overflow possibly late yesterday or today but I haven't heard anything about it yet. Hopefully it will simply overflow as expected and gradually release pressure and headwaters. It is 2000 feet long and over 100 feet deep right in the river channel so it likely will not let...

    High Gain Mobile Antenna

By contrast I also have a really old.......25 years or so old..........Comet CA2x4SR dual band mobile antenna with the same fold-over base. I had it for YEARS before I even knew it had the fold-over feature. LOL I don't remember how many times I mounted/unmounted that antenna until one day...

Not quite ready for prime time. Clone army.

I suppose but we know how well people actually listen. LOL I still see zero practical use for this except to stir up crap.

Not quite ready for prime time. Clone army.

Useless for that unless you scan the channels after every call since they can hear you on every channel but you can only hear them on ONE channel.

    High Gain Mobile Antenna

Actually I had a really good quality 2m SuperGainer antenna from Comet or Diamond.....I forget which.....and it would do the same thing. Something about the wind pressure and vibrations would make it literally walk up out of the socket base until it would fall over at the hinge point. It was 60+...

Once again they do not make them like they used to... revisited for the 128 time

Using a nine volt battery in that microphone is no problem if it fits OK. It will have very slightly more gain, probably not noticeable, but that is about it. I remember lots of guys swapping out to a 9V.

looking for a jennings 10-250PF veritable capacitor 55kv

RF voltages need to be much higher than the normal applied plate voltage. We used to run 1 Kw AM transmitters with 2600 volts on the anode. RF voltage at the 50 ohm common point was around 225 volts however the rating of the tune capacitor in the transmitter itself as well as in the ATU was...
