UHF home brew repeater success stories?

Yeah, sure, but I would never even think of using Baofeng radios. I would use a pair of front mount mobiles, a 6 cavity mobile duplexer and a good controller.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Thank you Brother DXer! I have not been as involved with the QX stuff lately. I have been spending more time on the development of some antennas (base, mobile and a portable). The dimmer function was on my wish list as well, for the LONG chassis. Prior to the FW update, the VFO muting was a...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I will take credit for the VFO unmute. That was my campaign with QX, that started with this radio and went onto the future models. Pez and I were working on QX, with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch, for feature requests. I would say things turned out pretty well for the current and now, past...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I realize you are playing it safe, but the FW upgrade is well worth it. You could downgrade to the earlier version if needed.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

One more thing I should add about the update. Although when asked, any changes to the RX code were denied by QX. However, I noticed a difference (in a good way), that reminded me of the Aries II/QT-40 RX, which seems to have some kind of special mojo going on (at least to my ears) that made it...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I did not know that this was unreleased all this time. It took well over a year, from the time I was annoying QX about the update, until I received the first and only beta. Unlike Pez, I have been out of touch with all of this. This FW version, transformed my QT-60, from an unusable (to me)...

    Radioddity QT-60 *Pro*

FYI, the NON Pro, "long", has the dimmer function in the last firmware update.

    Radioddity QT-80 Bummer

I had an issue a few days ago, where the HI SWR would trip out, only on SSB. I guessed it was spurious emmision. I was made aware of a modification to the final PA transistors, to stop the self oscillation. I did the mod yesterday and will be testing it. Apparently, this occurs primarily in...

    Really worth it

For the record, I have a 13-5825B myself, that has intermittents. I have not tried to fix the double board (double trouble) yet. Maybe someday...

    Radioddity QT-80 Bummer

I also had to disable SWR protect. I also believe, that since the finals are pushed harder, by the DC-DC boost converter, they will be more susceptible to mismatched antenna systems. I am diligent about the antenna I am connected to being a good match.

    Really worth it

Many Uniden chassis fanboys, dislike Cybernet radios for whatever reason. I myself like the Uniden's, but the Cybernet's as well. Chevy vs. Ford, vs, Mopar......

Texas star dx-350 hdv repair (toasted)

I just repaired a 350HDV, that a shop tried to repair, around the keying circuit. I pulled the board and found a bottom side solder blob, causing intermittent keying of the amp. I don't think I'm done though. I suspect there may be self oscillation that was the root cause of the first repair. SL

I have been using the R5 for 30 years. I have repaired it several times, but it is worth the trouble. I only wish is that it was the R7.

They used PIN diodes for a reason. Using a switching diode, will increase IP3, when dealing with strong signals. A PIN diode with a long tau time, such as Mitsu MI-204, which I have used successfully.

Since you like to teach. perhaps you like to learn too. The 102BX and 103 have several differences. One of them, is an optional 400 Hz CW filter. It was manufactured by Network Sciences and has 6 poles I have two 103's for 30 years. One has the filter, one doesn't. I would like to have a...
