In the first place, the Cobra coffin or any other typical 500 ohm mic is not a good choice for that radio. That Swan needs a HI-Z mic. cartridge. An early HI-Z Johnson or Shure mobile mic will work.
By comparing the photo of your board with the schematic, R472, R473, R474, are missing. Oddly they left behind Q47 and other associated components. They essentially completely disabled that circuit by removing those 3 resistors.
Do you have the missing knob? Otherwise I’ll look to see if I...
Just finished my modified enhanced service manual along with a separate spliced schematic. If you find a crystal that's out of tolerance, go to page 3. For faster reference, I often include the crystal layout frequency with associated channel chart.
Another model "Delta Tronix D1325RF" was listed in CB Tricks, but that page is blank of any info, and I didn't find any other reference to that particular model on the web. If I get a copy of the manual at some point, I'll list all the models with photos on the cover page. Of course I'm hoping...
I don’t have book Sams 132, but I think this could be your rebadged radio. These all have slightly different face plates, but the same layout in the following models. D-1325RF is the key to all of these examples and they can be found on Ebay.
Ebina Lake D-1325RF
BOHSEI EBINA Model D-1325RF...
This is one other Smokey CB that I found that somebody posted on Facebook. The face plate layout is different, including a Smokey the Bear logo. I never saw one of these before. Wish I had an inside view.
At any rate, these early 23ch matrix radios are not too difficult to troubleshoot and...
I would also be glad to do some research if photos were provided. 23 channel radios are kind of my thing.
Anything to be gained? You have nothing to lose by trying to solve its origin. You can almost bet there is a clone. In the rare case that nothing is immediately found, I’d still place...
With our Royce dealership, the 606 and the 600 was among the early 23ch radios we sold. Except for size and features, both had similar 37Mhz crystal matrix circuits. Royce also used two transformers in their audio chain. One thing you could say about their electrical engineers, for better or...
As with most of Western NY, no special glasses were necessary. We had very heavy cloud cover all day. Except for all of the small businesses in the Buffalo area that raked in big profits, many viewers were somewhat disappointed. Nonetheless, at least for me, it still was an experience to...
I will be able to see 2m 31.3s of totality from my front yard. I usually take the dog out around that time, but I’m thinking about leaving him in the house. He doesn’t pay any attention when I turn on and off my ceiling sun :giggle:, but I fear his outside world view may be different...
This is my enhanced PDF version of this Sears radio, and the almost complete spliced version of the schematic. As you can see, only a few connections and components are missing in the gutter area of the book that didn’t get scanned.
Only after you replaced the caps or other possible components that may have caused the original transistor to burn out in the first place, would I then go with the NTE that you already purchased. It’s easy enough afterwards to test for heat with your fingers. Depending on how hard it’s being...
As replacements, I often purchase the old NTE or the ECG line of transistors. I like the sealed packages they come in. That helps avoid fakery. The pin-outs and specifications are also clearly marked on the package. In your case, an ECG294 or NTE294 should work fine.
I would replace them with a 12v warm white bayonet bulb. They’re commonly used as an automotive replacement. In doing so I would also remove the 100 ohm resistor as shown in the schematic and experiment with a much higher resistor to achieve your desired brightness. To be on the safe side I...
Gotta love those old analogue multimeters! They usually contain a selector inside that looks like something to be used in a high power antenna switch. Generally, that’s the first thing that goes bad in most modern day digital multimeters.
