Hello,
Lately been thinking about picking up a good 10 meter amp. Got an older Realistic HTX-100 id like to use with it. I am just not familiar with which amps that one could still buy good/used that have proper SSB biasing. Cobra XL 350 is one that comes to mind, but isn't that amp based...
Cut very small lengths and check your SWR to be sure its getting closer to where you want it to be. Dont want to cut off 1" at a time, but more like 1/4 at time when you are really getting close.
I have a cutting wheel to take off bits off the antenna whip. maybe the initial cut off an inch...
On top of the capacitors needing help, I know for sure the older Cobra 140/142 GTL radios have a service bulletin in regards to the voltage regulator IC. Looks to be the same board used.
The beep is kinda annoying after a bit, but I let it be on the replacement board. The original 980 my wife had gave up out of nowhere and lost its transmit power. (Even after a final replacement it still behaved the same way.) , I got lucky and found a parts one off ebay for $35 that had its...
You will be fine at 1.5 watts on AM. SSB I personally never try and push the KL-203 with more than 10 watts during peaks.
I did unlock the clarifier on the 980 earlier this year. Simple enough to do.
Riiiiiiiiiise from your grave... :P Now a 2nd time. :)
You will need a kit to get more frequencies on that TRC-465 radio. New in box radio I would keep clean and running. :)
Bah! You are correct.
Board for sure isn't a Cybernet. The outside though looked like many of them that were made at the time.
The Tiger 40 is for sure a Cybernet chassis.
Be sure its chosen on the echolink program itself. You may have to adjust the levels of it through windows. By default echolink will choose whichever mic Windows has set. You can manually choose the mic on the preferences of Echolink.
If it helps, this is the area it went to. When I do try to look up the Silver Eagle 200 pictures online, it looks to have different colors, but still hard to fully see as the picture quality wasnt good.
Hello,
I am having some difficulty finding the ohms off this resistor. The colors dont match up on any of the calculators online.
Any help on this would be appreciated. It does read half an ohm on a multi meter. Thats all I could find out about it.
Was TR34 near the back next to the AM Regulator? Reason I ask is because I fixed a President AR144 radio this way. It was transmitting on AM, but that transistor was getting HOT instantly. Put in a 2SC945 in its place and its working nice and cool.
Though that radio is like the Cobra 146 GTL...
I can relate to where the OP is coming from....
I am for sure not a tech by definition.... As today I managed to burn an amp. :D :P
Couldn't tell you what went wrong, but 100% on me as I was doing my best to follow instructions but something went wrong.
On a good day, I know not to clip...
