    Reclaim LSB 16

WDX134 Nebraska was booming into my radio at 9+. Could hear him talking to 465 PA., but could not copy, or make contact with 465. Called WDX159 in California, and we had a short conversation. Had a 5/7 on his signal here in NC. Heard some others calling, but could not get a good...

    Looking for Antenna Equipment advice.

@Crawdad7 How's the Yaesu rotor working out? Thinking about buying one, when I put my beam back up next month.

Varmint XL1000 back from the undead.

Pretty sure that the SuperMod increased the voltage to the tubes. Can't remember if I had a XL 250 or XL 350 in the past. I think the Supermod on it raised the voltage 200 to 300 volts.

Got a picture of how the fan is mounted and what's the size of the fan?

Solarcon MAX OPTIMZER The Ultimate 10-11 Meter Base Antenna

I bought a Max Optimizer a couple weeks ago because my Sirio 2016 took a crap after two years. Anyway, I installed the Max at 20 feet above ground. Used a RigExpert AA35 Zoom to tune it. With the 11 meter 12 inch section installed, it was tuned way down in 26.xxx...the low side. Tuning...

Need Coax advice for mobile antenna

Just remembered so my bad. Had a Firestik stud, but it was way too wimpy for a steel whip. I used a Breedlove model #206 stud mount for the antenna connection. The #206 has the ring connector connection on the bottom. Trust me the antenna is not going anywhere on that stud. With the...

Need Coax advice for mobile antenna

I agree good quality RG58 would work good, and would be more practical for your setup. You could add a small amp later, and still be good to go. RG8X is great too if that's what you have. Used it many times when trucking. Just like @undertaker, I used ring terminals on my last steel whip...

    Reclaim LSB 16

Just had my first contact and QSO with member Brother DXer WDX-226 in West Texas. He was booming into western NC with 9+ on his Stryker 955, and it sounded great too.

I have a two pill 2879C box that I got recently from a local builder, and it's been biased too. From the label on the back of the amp that you posted. 100 watt carrier is what my builder said to run it at. He also said the amp can handle every bit of power from my stock Quad 6. He did say...

@TimmyTheTorch You posted ratings for the two pill 2879 box. The picture of the amp you posted had different ratings on the back of the amp. Is that a 2879C box?

Solarcon MAX OPTIMZER The Ultimate 10-11 Meter Base Antenna

Cranky, a local tech from my area posted his thoughts on the Max Optimizer. Pictures of the manual, and the measured length of the antenna with and without the extra 12 inch section.

President Lincoln II + Version 3 Service Manual

In the menu, do a factory reset all/default. Hopefully that works. You will have to go back in after the reset, and redo all of your settings.

    Anytone quad 6

My Anytone 6666 is running cool now. I use it for my base station radio. I talk locally for hours some times, and the radio was getting too hot for me even with a five watt dead key. Bought a Wathai 120mmx32mm AC blower fan with variable speed fan controller. It's laying flat behind the...

    Anytone 6666 Question

What ever power you dial it in to on SSB is where it will stay. AM works different, but you will be good to go on SSB no problem.

Builders are using cheap fans that's for sure. The thing is the cheap fans they are using are supposed to be mounted vertical only...not horizontal. The builder at Davemade.com did use a cheap fan on one of my amps. Fan was making tons of noise on my receive. Sent an email, and three days...

Two pill 2879C base at 14.5 volts will easily get 450 to 500 watts with a completely stock Anytone 6666. I know because I have one that I just got from a local tech. It was actually a 4 pill Toshiba 2879 that finally bit the dust, and was rebuilt to a two pill 2879C box with B bias. I was...

    Carl Built

A local amp builder friend of mine has fixed a few of these amps that were Carlbuilt. They would work fine on a single final bipolar radio, but with a Stryker 955 high input just like you described. The amp builder said he had to use a blocking cap to fix it. He said like the way Texas Star...

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

Good deal! Glad it's working good for you. Mine is still working good, and I can go to the lower or upper channels on 11 meter, and not worry about SWR problems.

When it bottoms out, lock it down with clamp.

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

Just use the tuning table for top part, and it should be on the money. Less than 30 minutes for assembly. Easiest antenna I have ever assembled, and I used blue Loctite for all the screws.
