need some help setting up hi fi audio

I have to agree totally with what 543 and 131 are saying, a good mic and a correctly setup radio can make a damn good sounding station. Some people just can't get that through their heads I suppose. It's all about hearing how you sound on air. And to do this properly you need a good receiver...

    Yeticom Optima MK3 Mobile

SSB is truly where this radio shines. I have to agree with Tucker442, it's not an AM radio. But with the right mic and setting it can be made to work on AM. Just not like a Cobra 29 or an AM only radio. JMO.

High SWR's, trouble with carrier on amp

Glad you got it resolved. And that amp is working for you now. Good deal.

    WICKED TUNA

Yep. The US isn't going to go into Mexico over use of illegal radios. And I doubt they would do much to the guys on TV as well. Too much money at stake. I see some payoffs and things getting swept under the rug. For the moment anyhow. JMO. I know it's illegal. And I am. Or condoning it...

    Tuning SWR with high output

I was going to ask that as well. Do you not get a lot of noise from the lines?? I know when I passed under power lines like that, my radio would get a lot of noise and also it was hard to make contacts as well. Those power lines are an RX killer from my experiences with them. Always want...

    ISO: Oldpaint0

Now that is a sign of good people!! I know Exit13 works his arse off!! And he is only human. But obviously he isn't a rip off artist!! (y)(y);):)

High SWR's, trouble with carrier on amp

Might try a longer coax jumper. Or a different length at least and let me ask, how close is the amp to the radio/s?? May have to move the amp away from the radios if they are close together. Not sure if any of this will actually work, but it's worth a try.

Help making a list of essentials to take to a remote island for DX.

You're radio should have a pretty decent VSWR meter. If you have the analyzer and you notice the power being cut back on the radio, you most likely have a VSWR issue. I trust my internal meter on my Icom 746, but I also check it occasionally with my analyzer to make sure it's all right still...

Squire 100 "Bi Linear" "Amateur Amplifier"??

Have never used the amp so I don't know what it will do output wise. I know the transistors are not easily found per some others here. Again, hope these photos might help a little. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Squire 100 "Bi Linear" "Amateur Amplifier"??

Okay Leap Frog, sorry I am so late to respond. Here are a couple of pics of the amp I have. Hope this is a similar amp.

Galaxy 22b base stuck on one channel.

Have you tried unplugging the mic and seeing what it does? Or does it do this without the mic plugged in as well. Never hurts to try! I am no tech, so don't flame me if this is a dumb question. And have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

    Tuning SWR with high output

Yep. If you don't re calibrate it's not going to read right for sure!! Your VSWR reading will be off the charts I'm sure if you increase the power to say 10-15 watts DK from a 4 watt one. The meter will peg at 3:1 or more. And like Yeti Comm said, it's really called VSWR, and like Beetle said...

    stryker repair

Good job getting that info redlght!!! Now others that have the same issue can hopefully resolve their issue as well. If they feel they can perform the necessary soldering. Looks good. Well done and glad you got it resolved. Easy enough fix as long as you know how to solder. Good info and...

Squire 100 "Bi Linear" "Amateur Amplifier"??

I have one of those same amps. If you need pics of the inside of one, let me know Leap Frog. I have one that has the stud mount transistors in it. Same little amp, just a different name.

Have you tried to program it with the USB port on the back? Yes you will need a proper USB cable. But it appears you program it using the small USB port on the back next to the ext speaker jack.

    36 amp power supply

All these posts and nothing bad to say about the MegaWatt PS's. Great reviews from people that actually own them and use them on a daily or near daily basis. Not trying to say they are the best by any means, but for the money they are a great power supply that dont cost an arm and a leg. JMHO's.

    Messanger m4v

Like I said before, a couple of MegaWatt 50 amp power supplies run in parallel, which they are capable of doing without the need for any other parts, would be the way to go. Plenty of headroom and yoo can run all your equipment off them. Better to have more amperage than you need then to have...

    Stryker slimmed down SR-447 HPC2

If its the same type board as the anytone 6666, it will be most likely menu changes. Read above. Hold the MENU and BAND buttons, turn radio on, go to CB BAND, then hold MENU to select band. Give it a try. If it's not menu changes then it won't do anything. If it is, you are good to go...

    Messanger m4v

Like said you can, but you risk a lot doing so. Your health as well as the amp not having enough voltage and amperage. Get a couple of MegaWatt 50 amp power supplies and run that thing right. Good amp as long as you don't overdrive it!! And it needs some amps and good voltage. JMHO's. Read...
