Yeah even when talking. If I start counting up (ie. 1 2 3 4 5 6) as soon as I key, the first few numbers are soft, then increase in volume (confirmed over the air). Once it gets over that though, it works perfectly for the duration of that "key".

Thanks hotrod, that sounds like what I pictured would be the way to do it without equipment. :) Its something I'd really love to do eventually, but right now its what the budget allows for. Certainly a bit better than my DX979 on initial sideband stability though! :laugh:
