i have 7-8 feet from the boom to the top of the mast pipe and want to put a ground plane up there...
the question is.....
Will the radials of a ground plane antenna like a Maco 5/8 affect the beam more so than a ground plane antenna like an Imaxx with out the radials ????
I expect to...
i did this comparison of 3 different antennas a few months back
here are the results
86" vs. 72"
( Disclaimer ; your results may vary )
All test with Cobra 29 @ 12 RMS bird watts dead key with mic gain at zero
measured with Bird43 w/ 25 watt slug and Fatboy digital field strength...
72-86 inches is where 99% of these type setups are mounted.
no matter the spacing.. when tuned the rear antenna will end up 4-8 inches longer than the hot antenna.
I agree 100%.... i would luv to line up next to an 8 pill with my 3000....HAHAHAHAHA
0- wait ...... your talking about the antenna...... I agree with that too
you can modify a FatBoy Puck mount plate to cover an existing antenna mount hole..
I did one like this on my tool box........ I had a wilson hole mount in the lid then switched to a puck.............. I did mine like this
the puck mount is lugged
also you will need to inlarge the hole you have drilled in the roof to accept the puck mount. Then there are 3 smaller mounting holes to drill.
incresing the hole size may prove a pain....you can no longer use a hole saw because the hole is larger than the pilot bit...
what was the reflect with the 27" 10k on the tool box..?????
I'v been thinking about doing my everday driver like that but with a puck mount on top of the lid
LOL............ I would love to meet LinearOne ,, BigPapaPump and the gang...
Never key my AC stuff in Comp..... set it up for shooting skip... I have Won Some in the DC stuff !!!
