Mobile High swr !!!. Need a 27mhz ground independent antenna

I'd like to do this but I've been told the thing that matters is the metal body. I've been trying to find out why the body needs to be metal if you can just use the frame and it works OK.

The No Ground Plane antenna kit. Yeah, I keep checking those out. I really wanna put a 102 on there.. and figure out a way to try to RF ground it to the frame of my car but I just can't find anyone who will say that will do it!

I've been there! And it is good stuff - I've been wanting to put a mobile rig in my Corvette (10/11m) but the complexity of trying to understand a way to make it work has kept me from doing anything serious.

Mobile High swr !!!. Need a 27mhz ground independent antenna

Do you have any links to specifics? I have a "fiberglass body" and trying to distill some things. Primarily, if the frame of my car is aluminum and other metals, does this give me any hope compared to the steel in a vehicle's body? And, as an exercise, how much steel do I need? If I just...

Swap FM for SSB and I'd consider buying! That being said, the Anytone 6666 has been bulletproof the last 3 years.

Back in town from Parts Unknown™. I worked Alberta, Saskatchewan and most states west of the Mississippi over the weekend from the Cascade range in Washington. But it was not great conditions Saturday and Sunday.

    11 meter is very quiet?

I had S2 to 3 noise whereas I normally have S1 at my locale. Wyoming came into Seattle at S7-8 so well over!

    Francis 8' Wheeler Dealer Antenna

my 2008 HHR was bulletproof until I got hit in it. It'll do just fine! If you make it up to Seattle there is an active CB community on 17 and lotsa chatter all around during the day. In local evenings 40LSB is a good one.
