I think if mods are available it would be very practical. It would allow me to use the equipment I already have to do more.
As far as amateur radio I have already passed the ham exam and have a VX-8R which has been modified.
:pop:
I assume the experts will come through and correct me if I am wrong, but you should not need one.
I was playing on the Marine band this weekend with my VX-8R (standard antenna, removed resister) and my HX350s. Admittedly I was unable to put much distance between both HTs, but as I...
I did some googling and I am not seeing any modification, but I thought I would post here to see if anyone here knew a way of opening up the spectrum to more than just the marine band.
As a side note, the STANDARD HORIZON HX350S has served me very well. It was carried a lot and used very...
I am a IT Security guy (see signature) Safari has security issues Apple will not acknowledge or fix.
IMHO, Sea Monkey and Foxfire are probably the best and most secure/functional browers at this point and FoxFire just had a new bug discovered today.
IE is an issue. There are certain...
I have an older Motorola (H700?). It fits my ears, stays in place, but I have never liked the way I sound on the other end. I have been told that the newer versions of the same ear bud are much better.
Never mind I think it was a cell phone issue.
Review of the headset:
I find the ear piece, not as comfortable as expected. Or maybe I have funny shaped ears. I think it would be much better if it had a head band.
The microphone was acceptable, but not exceptional.
I will post more once...
Anyone tried out their VX-8R with bluetooth?
I bought the equipment.
I tried to get the headset to work with my Cell phone (since I don't know HAM I assumed testing the hardware would be a good place to start).
It finds it OK, but will not so far it will not sync.:headbang
I should mention that I am new to the DC area also. I live in Alexandria, VA and work on the other side the river in Maryland.
I would love to hear about the clubs in the club thread or PM if you prefer. Being new to VA, and HAM, I am not sure if I want to join a club or not. I am not...
I am new to HAM.
I am thinking about joining a club.
Who belongs to a ham radio club?
What club?
What makes a good/bad ham radio club? (Events?, Associated Orgs?, Bob belongs and I like Bob?)
I hate to dig up an old thread, but it hits on a topic I am interested in. I plan on making many trips to the deep woods and expect to turn APRS on at least once a day so people can keep track of me. The funny thing is, when I look at APRS.fi, I am not seeing APRS traffic in the deep woods...
This is my first post. I just wanted to say hi.
Basic info:
I am new to this forum and new to ham. (So yes, I am clueless.)
I am living in the DC area. Anyone local?
Thinking about joining a club. You will see a post about this.
I got into ham because I spend a good bit of time...
