It may help somebody that doesn't know about this problem

I know we have had 3 different ford rangers 2-99 1-2000 and the fuel pump noise in the radios was terrible until we put the ferrite beads on the fuel pump lines.
The reason I said ford trucks was that I ran onto a trucking forum where a lot of the guys had the same problems an thats how they...
Ford trucks have a hell of a problem with fuel pump noise unless they have changed something in the last few years. And I'm sure that would affect the way the radio worked with some power behind it also.

Thanks alot Doc. I might call BC today an see what I can come up with.
I have an outside base antenna, an I am only about 5 miles from the airport.

How about one of the better bearcats? I didn't know you could program one to scan the whole band, but that is what I was really after I guess.
Thanx, Ron B.
Where can I find that base unit on top there?
I guess I'm hunting one that scans the whole a/c band without having to program all of the freq's in to it.

My 2547 talks an receives great, I have a D-104 on it an have a Maco 5/8 wave antenna an couldn't be happier. The only downfall with the radio I can find is the cheap-azz little legs they have to prop the front up with. One of mine broke about 2 weeks after I got it.

I have it wired right but I keep getting an RF squeal (not feedback) when I plug the mike in.

whats the story here?
Ronnie
Can a person build a real true 5/8 wave antenna without having to use a coil or such at the bottom (the one inside) like the maco 5/8 does?
I own a small machine shop an was just wondering what it would take without having to sub out parts for one.
