Thanks, next time we get some conditions I am going to try and make some contacts on ssb. I tried talking to a local a few weeks ago and he was so far off I couldn't clarifiy him in, but he could me. I am pretty sure It was just his radio because I don't have any trouble clarifing other people in.
I have a galaxy 2547 with a turner 454x mic I modified. I turned up the modulation and AM power but didn't touch ssb do you think I should?I got a check on ssb and they said it sounded good. I just wanted a frequency counter to make small adjustments but I will probably be fine with out one.
What would be a good low cost frequency counter to align my radios with. I would mostly like to align ssb because I know a lot of radios tend to drift on ssb.
Not sure about the power supplies but the maco v5/8 is a great choise. Can't go wrong with one of them. I have had one for about a year and it beats the A99 hands down.
Thanks, I think this radio will be my next purchase after I get my license. I can go 20 feet on the antenna that should work. The closest reapeter is probably 30 miles so I should reach it fine.
Is this radio worth buying for use on 2 meters. Also if I get the radio before I get my licence, I am alowed to listen as long as I don't transmit right? Also what is going to be a good antenna to use. I know that were I live in a valley a mobile with a 102 inch whip will get out about 6 to 10...
