I was Extra Class but I let it expire.
Will retest soon.
But I never took the attitude that is being demonstrated by a couple of posters in this thread.
Some of them HAMMIES are an odd sort anyway.
One even agreed with me on a post in this thread and then later took up with the one that is...
I was stating an observation, does not matter to me how stupid it gets.
I am not whining about it, just making a statement.
I try to avoid stupidity, so I quit frequenting that frequency.
It appears that I have some how offended you.
Maybe if you had known how to use the simple formula and...
Could the ammeter shunts/current equalizing resistors ( r101 & r102 ) be burnt open?
0.05 ohm 5 watt wirewound
For testing purposes you can jumper them with a wire.
Ammeter will read low and current sharing between pass devices will be reduced.
But you can test it with a radio this way.
I was ignorant to all that.
I just started going back there so I can't answer your question just now.
I had been staying away because it was such a circus.
Actually its been pretty quiet there, just an occasional international caller asking you to qsy to another frequency for the contact.
Pretty much true except for the screwballs that go on the triple nickel just to make a nuisance out of themselves.
They go there because they know it is the international call frequency and they carry on like a bunch of idiots hoping that they are interferring with people who are there on that...
Cut one end of D30 and jumper D29.
Cut the end of R119 that is nearest D29.
Solder jumper wire to cut end of R119 to cathode end of D44.
Trace the purple & white wire from the clarifier to where it connects to the pcb and cut it loose.
Re-solder this wire to the nearest pcb ground trace...
Where do you see anything in this thread about 'modifying slugs'?
Nobody is modifying slugs.
Nowhere in this thread does it say 'modifying slugs' 'till you included it in your post.
The link I provided talks about adding a variable resistor in the metering circuit to increase the range that...
You could dispense with the rg58 and make the phasing harness longer and incorporate the chokes into the extra length of the phasing harness.
This would eliminate some of the 'connectors.'
I am assuming that the phasing harness is 1/4 wl (velocity factor corrected length) and if that length is...
I have seen on the internet where they are expanding the range of a slug with a potentiometer.
In other words they can take a slug and make it read 2 or 3 times what it is rated for.
If this is something you might be interested in then this information might have a bearing on what size slug...
I don't know if this will help, as I was unable to find what you needed, but it seems that the 138 is the same bird as the Midland 13-893. (which, also, I was unable to find its alignment procedure)
Good luck.
Given time maybe someone who has the information you seek will see this and respond...
Depends on how much longer you need to make it.
If the copper is thin-walled then it may well start to bend with the force of the wind.
Depends on how much longer you need to make it.
Maybe someone else on the forum has some ideas for this.
This is one you should have run through the forum...
That could be the problem in a nutshell.
Can't have the coils close to the sheetmetal.
Out of curiosity; What does the 102 show for swr and is also mounted where this coil antenna is mounted?
One picture is worth a thousand words.
