    Any FCC busts for DXing?

Not to the best of my knowledge. Afaik, it's usually an additional hit, much like the ubiquitous DisCon... Or if you're being a real Jackass, 'Resisting Arrest' at even the slightest muscular twitch. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2

    Any FCC busts for DXing?

I'd also like to know on what authority did this person perform a "VnT" a.k.a. traffic stop? Depending on the municipality, detaining someone from unrestricted movement (Including vehicular.) is a precursor to arrest and cannot be done by FCC agents. FCC agents are not sworn peace officers with...

What if you have limited space BUT still want to BUILD a 160-10 antenna?

Google up "Hy-Power Antennas" and look for their 82' 160 dipole. Order it for ladder-line feed and use a good quality ladder-line. (Davis RF) Have fun... ;-) Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

    What if?

Easy... Elecraft K3/100! (Or K2/100, for that matter.) Ten-Tec makes very good rigs too. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

    Good sideband radio

The Uniden Grant XL or LT and the early Cobra 148GTL. (Same chassis) I preferred using a mobile with a exterior power supply because, more often than not, the built-in p/s on the base stations were rated at just barely enough to supply the rig. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

your favorite tips for someone new to cb radio

For all you SSB enthusiasts... Please do not say that you are "QRT and on the side." QRT means you are shutting down your station. If you are listening, you are QSX or, better yet, state your call followed by "QRZed?" Then you are asking "who is calling me? Pronounced Q R Zed. Take care es...

Will cb radios ever reach the popularity it did in the 70's and 80's

My own personal take is based on the fact that the 11-meter CB has always treated me well. I started out on AM back in 1976 or so and quickly discovered that SSB was the way to go. It eventually became my path to both my FCC GROL and ham ticket. I never really encountered the hordes of lids that...

    My First CB Radio Contact

While not my first CB/11-meter contact, this was certainly the most memorable one. In fact, it was the one that made me decide to pursue my ham ticket. One evening, (circa 1978) I was monitoring 27.4050 MHz USB with my pride and joy, a Royce 1-639 w/an Astatic mobile D-104 mic. My antenna was a...

    Va Earthquake

Felt it here in NY too. City Hall evacuated and more than a few office workers exit their buildings. By and large, not too bad though. Hope all is similarly well with those closer to the epicenter. 73, Bert Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

    10m/11m mobile radios

While there's no doubt that there are many rigs marketed solely for the 11-meter "freeband" (I hate that term, btw.) market, there are still.some that are quite useful for law abiding ARO's. I don't wish to appear disagreeable with you, I just very rarely make blanket statements. As for your...

    10m/11m mobile radios

I'd forgotten to mention the HTC-10, it's relatively inexpensive. I don't agree with the other statement though. Although there are more than a few cheaply made inferior designs out there, there are also some nicely made rigs as well. The President Lincoln, (the last incarnation of the...

    10m/11m mobile radios

Hi, For 11-meters, I like the Uniden Grant XL. (or LT) They're still available NOS here and there. (eBay, etc.) The Galaxy 2547 is also very nice. I have both and they both perform well but the superior receive on the Uniden makes it my personal preference. For 10-meters, you might want to...
