Connex 3400HP, no tx after replacing finals

just an update to this in case anybody still following it, I bought the right mosfits and put them in last night and this radio sprung to life. Has good tx and swing. Just makes me wonder what caused this issue to happen. I’ve had this radio since it was brand new and it hasn’t been used...

    Jumper cables, buying advice needed

Crimping is probably a good idea. I have plenty of lmr400 left over, I wonder if I can get a good set of crimpers and connectors for less than what I can get the pigtails for. I can solder, I’d just rather not do the jumpers. Especially when it’s on an antenna up in the sky. I’ve tried many...

    Jumper cables, buying advice needed

I tried that once and it was a mess. I’m not good enough to solder without melting the inside. I was hoping to buy some quality ones already made

    Jumper cables, buying advice needed

I’m looking for good quality jumpers to go between my meter, amp and radio. Preferably something you users here have had good success with I’ve bought a few over the last couple of years off amazon and, well,,,,,,,, junk. All of them bad. Even the pricier ones it seems. I used a good lmr400...

Just letting everyone know that this antenna went well. It was a real beast it about killed us raising it, but we got it 60 feet in the sky all guyed up. Maco v58 going up, please look this over

Yes I agree with everybody, tomorrow morning my son and I are getting out there and putting the radials on it and raising it back up 20 feet before everybody else shows up. I’m just hoping that they come down flat enough for me to have this ready before the whole gang shows up

Maco v58 going up, please look this over

Right, according to the pamphlet it was supposed to be 228 for 11 meter. I got it right at 228 inches and it was 2.0 on both 1 and 40,,, I’m hoping when I get the radials on it they drop perfectly. The reason why the radials aren’t on there is because the guy helping me today was a know it all...

Maco v58 going up, please look this over

The ground radios are laying there on the deck. They are 9 feet long each and he was claiming that they only work on the receiving end and don’t have anything to do with the SWR so I did not put them on there. If somebody knows better, please tell me and I’ll put them on and recheck everything

Can you experienced guys please have a look at my video I made of my v58 before I put it up? I have a gang of people that’s coming over to help hoist it up and I want to get things right the first time. Connex 3400HP, no tx after replacing finals

Ha ha, I knew I was gonna get my ass kicked. But it’s worth it to get some experts opinions. I ordered the right transistors for it, when they get here in a few days I’ll try it again. If they didn’t work, I’ll be out $4.95 and still have three left over for my next butcher job

Connex 3400HP, no tx after replacing finals

I have a barely used 3400HP that started blowing the inline fuse whenever I keyed up on the mic. I suspected the finals were blown. I removed them. They didn’t have any markings on them. I have a small bag of finals labeled c2078 in my parts bin. They looked identical to the ones I removed as...

Source for LED light ring for controls (aka nitro knobs)

I know this is an old topic, but I really think there would be a demand for these. Not sure what the startup costs would be sourcing them out overseas, as I’ve never been involved in that sort of thing. Surely one could find a Chinese supplier of LED lights to retool a machine and do some...

    Is this cable bad?

It’s one of those old Shakespeare big sticks. Well, since posting this I’ve talked all over to the locals down here any they say I’m loud. I got great swr, even talked a little skip. Perhaps there’s not an issue here

    Is this cable bad?

I just bought this LMR-400 equivalent and got my antenna permanently raised. My cable was too long going into the house, so I cut the access feet to solder a new PL259 connector on it. Before I do anything I checked the resistance on the center electrode to the outer sheath to make sure I don’t...
