I'm not worried about colds or flu. I've had a cold for over a month now but nothing serious. I have enough body fat to stay warm enough to handle any normal flu, though I did get swine flu a few years ago and that nearly killed me from relentless exhaustion over 48 hours due to occupational...
I see on the link it uses 50V fets driven to 200w for the finals. I wonder what power supply it uses. The FT1000 is awkward to get a power supply for as it gives several different voltages as well as 48v I hear. If this radio could be used with a server psu it wouldnt be too bad because we all...
there is probably a vent hole under the heatsink with both fans pulling either in or out. if there is no vent hole the air will never circulate through the heatsink as there is too much space in the case.
If you're still stuck you could make a post with google translate here: Два.ч — Радиотехника
It's a russian image board for radio techs. You don't need a user name or password, just fill in a captcha and you're all set.
I finished the amp yesterday and wired up the fan today. I was advised to use greater than 2 watts for the feedback resistors so I series paralleled 4.
I removed one ssb delay cap to make it 3300uf which gives a more appropriate delay. I couldn't get the amp to tune with 4 wraps on the input so...
you'll need a current balun to convert from 50 ohm unbalanced from the radio to balanced ladder line. if u use a 4 to 1 balun then u use 200 ohm ladder line but the ohms of the ladderline is not critical as it is not lossy like coax if you have a mismatch and you use an atu to bring the swr...
I think i read some radios are badly laid out. they have transistors beside crystals that switch on and off when keying that cause temp shifts in the crystal.
Well if you click on new posts on the header bar for this website and examine the link to this thread the page numbers count down 3,2,1 yet on every other thread the page numbers count up 1,2,3
I suppose the convicts belts were removed to prevent them hanging another inmate and then their trousers lacked support which then fell down around their ankles and rather than admit to embarrassment the convicts saw their fallen trousers as a mark of solidarity with their peers and made it in...
I understood it was made fashionable by prison convicts whose trouser belts were removed when they entered jail.

Here's a nice article to read. I wouldn't go breaking up your radio though. Just accept it as it is. There are other radios to buy that don't drift.
TXO= transmitter oven, more commonly known as TXCO, transmitter crystal oven. A procedure where insulation and a heating element is installed around a crystal to reduce rate of drift usually by 10 times. google for homebrew TXCO and read all you want.
I say buy the saturn if you want it. A local had one with distorted ssb transmit and he was perpetually off frequency but if you can get a tech to repair it and unlock the clarifier then you should go for it. I consider them to be better than the rci2950 as they had 10 meter spurs on transmit...
