A few things to think about. First, the average height of the ionosphere extends to below the normal height of the Starlink sats thus HF cannot penetrate it to reach them. Secondly, If you happened to hit a region where the ionosphere was high enough to allow HF to hit a Starlink bird, how would...
We have a nesting pair here at the house in Nova Scotia every year. This year we noticed two females and one male so perhaps there are now two nesting pairs here.
My favourite meters are the Fluke 376 digital for pretty much all work I do. I really like the fact that it reads DC current with the clamp. Most just read AC current. For analog, especially when working with high voltage, I use my ole Triplett 630-PLK. It is an old rugged bakelite cased analog...
Being of different brands has nothing to do with it. An Icom radio can key a Kenwood amp. A Kenwood radio can key a Yaesu amp. A foot switch is required when the radio does not have a send port such as when using an 11m radio with a ham amp. Some older tube type amps require either a slight mod...
I'll second the IC-735. I had one years ago and sold it when I bought an FT-857. Biggest radio mistake I ever made. That triple conversion front-end was absolutely bulletproof and the filter skirts were very tight. It was simple to operate and sounded good on the air. I wish I still had it.
How is the eagle population there, anyway? I keep seeing a lot of sites with eagle cams and lots of talk about hatchlings. Up here if we don't see an eagle at least once a day something is off. There are at least a pair of them we see soaring high and they often land in the trees in the backyard...
A full cycle is about 11 years. It is a bit lopsided however. Generally it takes a bit longer to go from a peak to a low than it does to go from a low to a peak.
Those are great for things like connectors. I bought one several years ago at the hardware store. It was advertised as being for doing stained-glass work. It has enough thermal mass to work quite well on coax connectors.
Every one of them is different. Some have metal shields around the tubes for extra shielding, and some do not. Some have the leads RF bypassed to prevent radiating, and some do not. Some use good engineering practices when constructed and some do not. Basically, you roll the dice and see what...
I honestly do not remember ever having changed the oil in my push mower. It just gets used to get in tight areas where the ride-on can't get. I am on only my second push mower in 35 years. The first one lasted for almost 30 years before it just simply shook itself to death over time eventually...
Please do NOT refer to truck stop hacks as "old techs". Most are not techs beyond knowing which end of a soldering iron to hold onto and know how to make a meter swing. Beyond that, they are NOT techs in the true sense of the word. Having said that, I will tell you that I AM an old tech. I...
Exactly. There is no magic to a Bird meter. There are more accurate meters out there today, but as far as versatility and ruggedness, that is where the Bird shines.
Was that a guess or just a question? The truth is that if it is a question, it is in fact the answer. LOL

It must be the mood I am in but that almost sound incestuous. :ROFLMAO: Just think about it..........slightly change the pronunciation of the word "pasties" and try it again.
OK I'll take your word for it. Senior eyes and small phone screen makes it look like plastic. BTW I did look for specs but could not find any. I would like to see the actual inside of one. Even some metal antenna rotators like the Alliance series used at least one plastic gear inside. Not a fan...
