It will run your hot water heater if you do not use much else at the same time. Good time to just watch TV while the water heater is on. My generator is about 1 Kw less than yours and it runs my water heater just fine.
Did you happen to drop by the house sometime while I was out? LOL Yup........I need to clean up the yard, cut the old bushes around and chip it, help my cousin rebuild and get the bridge across the river reinstalled next summer, build a new deck/patio, take my tower down and convert it to a...
Thanks Jeff. I was away all day today and yesterday as well and didn't get to check things as much as I would have liked. Still trying to navigate the new phone, plus I have been somewhat preoccupied lately with my upcoming retirement after which I should be around a bit more.
The way I have been feeling lately, I think you may be right. LOL Yes....old age.....with twelve shifts left before seven weeks vacation followed by permanent retirement I will have to agree with you about the old age setting in.
You are right. I had a brain fart. The 807 is basically a 6L6 on steroids. Both are electrically similar. Older broadcast transmitters used 807 in both the RF driver stage as well as in the audio stages from preamp up to modulator drivers. No idea why I said 811A. Must have posted that before my...
Sure, when you drive the piss out of them. Run properly, they are not that bad at all. Basically they are a 6L6 on steroids and 6L6's are run in some commercial broadcast gear in both RF and audio service and run quite linear, actually.
It doesn't work quite like that, or you did not explain things properly. Current draw is determined by the resistance of the load and nothing else. Your reference of the 120 volt outlet is wrong. You cannot have a 120 volt outlet with zero amps available and then "apply three amps to that 120 v...
Sounds like you have a resonance in that choke somewhere on 20m. If the plate choke does indeed have a resonance on 20m, or any other frequency you use, the choke will have to be rewound slightly different to move that resonance point outside the band.
They didn't look like much here last night until you pointed a camera at them on a long exposure, then they looked GREAT. I do not have access to my phone right now but will try and post a few pix later tonight.
If it werer me I would. Ihave seen some of that stuff literally melt into every little crevice of a connector and make it near impossible to remove without a solvent. I was given several heliax connectors for some LDF4-50 cable that had that on it and it was a real bitch to remove all of it but...
The bottom line......IMHO....is that WHATEVER you use to waterproof connections, it is HIGHLY advisable to first use a layer of electrical tape over the connection THEN use whatever after. It makes opening that connection SO much easier. I admit to using just silicone on my first connections...
$35 a tube? Of silicone?? Read my post above and just use regular hardware store silicone for a few bucks a tube. It has lasted FINE at my station over the last 40+ years.
Funny you should say that. If you actually know HOW to use silicone sealant, it is an EXCELLENT way to waterproof connectors. You just need to learn how to use it PROPERLY. I started using it over 40 years ago and NO......I am NOT a slow learner. FIRST cover the connectors with some black...
Do not confuse accuracy with resolution. Accuracy is how close to reality the display indicates, while resolution is how fine the result can be determined. A 7 digit counter may be extremely accurate but if it has low resolution.....only to the nearest 100 hertz.......then it is NOT acceptable...
Amen to that. When I was in commercial broadcasting, we did component level repair. We diagnosed the problem right down to the discrete component and replaced it. By the time I left that business 19 years ago most places were troubleshooting down to the board level......simply replacing an...
I have had silicone last for 20 years and counting. You MUST wrap the connector in a GOOD electrical tape first to avoid any corrosion that may occur from the solvents in the silicone as well as it makes it super simple to open the connection later. Just cut down thru the silicone/tape and peel...
