    CB with VFO

Well since we brought it up, I am what I call a "independent ham". I have been interested in radios of all kind since I was a child. Like many here got into CB's in the 70's and got my ham license in 93. But I am an independent ham because every ham I ever met was weird as hell! Now, I'm not...

In 1996 it took me one year and six tries before I passed the 20 WPM. I felt like I accomplished something.

    IC-735 or FT-747GX

They are both good transceivers, I would pick the 735 over the 747 and both are priced right.

    CB with VFO

CB doesn't have a "spectrum" only the 40 channels. Because other agency's have use of the channels in between the CB channels. In this day and age I could not imagine anyone using those freqs. for communication but I have a dog collar that uses 27.190 for remote control!

    Hams on CB

Originally, CB was located in the 460 MHz–470 MHz UHF band.... I set up a GMRS repeater some years ago and while reading up on GMRS rules and history was shocked to see this. I think UHF was first a CB band in the late 50's? can you imagine! I bet know one had equipment for it back then.

Bought a HF Rig.....Except the Antenna

Good ahead and try what you want, but I have tried them ALL! and guess what works very good, WIRE. As far as antennas go you are not going to put up one antenna and be done with it, that's what makes wire antennas so fun and cheap. You can buy a 1/4 mile of electric fence wire for about $13.00...

    Member List & Activity Question

Again, I don't see your point? What does it matter if there are 300 or 300,000 members and how often they post? Is it some intranet ego thing with you or something? But now you have some big shoes to fill, we will be expecting daily post from you for years to come sharing your wealth of...

    Member List & Activity Question

You can only say so much about radio's. I don't know anything about running a server with a forum so I'm asking. Does it mess something up If there are a lot of inactive posters? A lot of members may log in to read.
