I was allways told to avoid multable 1/4 wave lenths of coax when feeding a dipole.

Has the economy affected your hobby?

If you were listening to 3886 AM after midnight last night...

That's why I got my ham license so I would not have to listen to that.

Any 220mhz activity in your area?

I am located in central Texas. A number of hams were stating that if there was a 220 repeater in the area they would get on the band. I went to a lot of expense and work to get a repeater going, it sat there for a year with about two of us on it. I took it down and sold it.

That was a close one!! I only do this as a hobby and never worked with the high voltage stuff, but one time I was working on my car and a wrench contacted the + and - post and BAMM! It blew the battery up!

    Problem With Dipole

Yeah with the SW radio all you need is a single wire for an antenna. It's been awhile since I have done that but I think the longer the better and you just need small gage.

    MULTIBAND VERTICAL HF ANTENNAS

I had a Gap Titan about 10 years ago. It was "ok" but not worth the money. It's to small for 40 meters and below, I can do better with my 80m dipole and a tuner. One thing I did like about it was that no tuner was required, but you can do that with a fan dipole. Is your space limited?

    Coax Question

If you can't use RG-8, RG-213, etc. the smaller mini RG-8 should work, I have run about 800 watts with mini 8 before.

    Wilson 5000 trucker for base

Yes it will get you on the air but as you probably know it's not going to work very good. You can expect to have SWR problems. You can save yourself a little money by not worrying about the ground rod and wire, it wouldn’t make much of a difference. I know what you mean about the money thing, my...

    AGITATORS

What ever you do, do not let them know you hear them. Get with your buddy's off the air and come up with a plan. One thing I have done before is even if they are interfering with you, you all just keep talking like if nothings there, it drives them crazy and they will stop. Is this on CB or ham...
