    Barjan now owns Astatic

Barjan has been around for awhile. They were a big customer for PDC/Valor in the early '90s. Interesting, they bought out Astatic. :?

    Astron power supply trouble

sounds like a voltage reg going bad or you are getting RF back into the supply. The 35A should run 100watts on SSB.

    MFJ DELUXE -MFJ-815B

First guess is a talkback circuit with adjustable volume. Yes No Maybe? We had those on the PDC 6000/7000 meters... Easy way to tell is to take off the top cover and post the pic.

    Look at this meter!

Holy smokes can you say Dot Matrix? Looks nice. To be honest I wouldn't buy it simply because I would be content with a WM150. If I had the extra cash I would seriously contemplate the purchase of a Dot Matrix meter... Looks nice. One good thing is the frequency range -- similar to the Diawa...

    TS-520

I had a 520S and the SE versions. The mod isn't that easy. The Xtals can be a pain to install within that small space. Never performed the mod but the receive is great on the rigs and the TX audio is also great. Psst.. Don't tell the DSP folks... LOL Good Luck. I sold mine and picked up...

This is "The Worldwide Radio Forum"

You know Switch Kit makes a good point. I know of several hams that modify their equipment to work outside of the band-plan. I am not stating they transmit there but I have seen for example many 440MHz ht and mobile modded for MURS or GMRS or FRS. Let's not get started on the HF rigs modified...

    antenna tuners

I use a Vectronics 300DLP (pre-MFJ). Autotuners seem to be the hot ticket these days. I like the Vectronics tuner. I dislike the inductor tap selector switch. If you can invest in an autotuner check out MFJ, or the stock Kenwood, ICOM units. IMO they are worth the extra bucks. I am going...

    Some History of Dosy Wattmeters

Sounds good to me... I prefer the Bird or HP lineup but Dosy has been a good choice. 1stop I have heard that name before somewheres... PDC has been around since the '70's before Valor purchased the company. I am still searching for older pictures of PDC equipment. I have quite a...
