if it were a 4x2879, i would say run with the dual final radio. but since they are 1446's, a good tuned single final radio (like the one you already have) should drive the amp just fine. not real sure, though.

my yaesu ft2200 has a sticky ptt switch on the mh-27 mic. upon inspection, it looks to be a tired return spring. finding a replacement for it has been trying. i did find a wireless model mw-2 that is a direct replacement. but, at $80, that's more than i paid for the radio. if it works...
i thought i'd post another interesting tidbit of info that i have found. the military police here at fort polk uses a gmrs frequency for coms. 462.005. they even have a repeater system setup complete with pl tone. it's the only activity i've heard on the gmrs frequencies around my area...
are you in the military or a contractor? while i was stationed in iraq with kbr, if they had caught any employee with a two way radio that wasn't authorized by kbr, it would have been a ticket home. sometimes i monitor the vhf repeater in iraq via echolink, but i never hear anyone talking.
