amateur radio easly moded to 11 meters ?

Booty, You may want to google PRB-1 and the ARRL. PRB-1 is a law that has been implemented in half the states (in the last 22 years), that gives you further ammunition in the area of ham radio, antennas, and neighbors. I'm still learning more about it myself.......

Where's the wackiest place *indoors you've put an antenna?

That's cool....I started out on the radio, as a teen myself. I began talking on a 23 channel midland hooked up to a battery with a weak old mobile antenna, hanging out my bedroom window, lol. It's been a heck of a ride since then. But, you gotta see this antron 99 standing up in my...

    Bob's CB Radio Shop

I've browsed through many of the cb shops on the web, but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, when it comes to actually selecting one to do business with.

    Portable Package

I saw on ebay recently where there was a case that you could get that had a foam base where you cut out the exact size and shape of your radio equipment. You will probably know what they are called, but I can't remember. I, too, have an FT-897D, and would like to look into some way of...

Where's the wackiest place *indoors you've put an antenna?

I have mine on an antenna tripod sitting on the floor of my walk in closet, extending to the top of my attic. There is less than 3-4 inches clearance, and I get out +/- 30 miles locally. Skip is not a problem. My local cb friends give me a non-stop hard time about this setup, and all I...

amateur radio easly moded to 11 meters ?

Hey Booty, I don't know what your goals are for ham, but I have a general ticket (and just got it by the way), and simply do not use it. You'll see by my rig/antenna/etc. list that I have a mixture of equipment.... I still think the exports work better for 11 meter (IMHO). I have local...

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

I'm not for sure what Bob's CB will adjust my radio for, but I have heard nothing but good reports about his work, so.....I have decided on him unless someone says something real vile about him, lol. The locals seem to like his work as well.

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

That's sweet-looking King!! (waving) I look forward to getting everything figured out, and getting that radio to my home as soon as possible. It should be a good performer, and like I said, can't wait to get it. 73, Snake Eyes

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

if he goes 15% above stock, that's 180. Someone told me let them pump it up inside the radio, and get a good power mic, and put that on a very low setting. Thus, you are controlling the audio through the mic..... What do most ppl do? Thanks, Snake Eyes

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

Unit 194, I seem to remember reading something about that in an older thread. Well, all I can say is that I have yet to try it. The power supply has been completely redesigned, according to Ranger. So.... will see how this thing gets out!! I got my fingers crossed!!!!! 73...

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

Many people seem to like the Ranger 2970 DX, and so I decided on a Ranger 2995 DX as I will be operating indoors. I would have gone with a Galaxy Saturn Turbo, but they don't make them any more, and you really don't know whose hands have been in them (when it comes to ordering them on ebay)...

for those talking about me in the third person, I am right here......:O as for seeing the light.... i'm not looking to run a kicker because of my neighbor issues, but am interested in a $500 radio (as you call it), because I can.... and we'll leave it right there. You can get your Cobra's...

what to buy - base or mobile (when you have a power supply)?

SR385 & Booty Monster, I'm certainly no expert, but I like your explanation there SR385. A lot of rigs like the FT-897D and Icom 706-MKIIG have the SSB/AM/CW individual filters that can be installed in them. Finding the AM filter may be a problem, though. I think they get snapped up...
