Did a search and found some more info on Yaesu serial numbers. The ft1000d was made for over 10 years.
Serial number 0J260434
0J- year and month

It would be easy if yaesu would just put something on the website so someone could just enter a model and...

At one time there was a list of full duplex capable HT's but I doubt its been updated. The Kenwood TH-D72 works great for the FM sats, but you will need to use earphones so you don't have feedback issues and you need to switch between the A and B VFO to transmit and adjust RX for doppler, since...
AO 27 and SO 50 are the only FM sats left working now and they transmit and receive on the same frequencies with SO 50 needing a tone on the uplink. AO 27 is only available on ascending passes in the northern hemisphere for 7 minutes about when it crosses 30 degrees North latitude
Isn't your Icom full duplex? I thought I saw that in the manual I downloaded. I used a combination of HT's with my arrow without the duplexer for full duplex operation(VX-6R, VX8GR, UVD1P, and a Kenwood TH-6). The real fun was using the TH-D72 with a headset, I had to go back and forth...
With Vista or Win7 you should be able to go into control panel/hardware and sound/sound and change the properties of the input(mic/line in) under the listen tab to pass the audio through the speakers
Might not be many on this site using a HT with handheld antenna making contacts, but there are quite a few doing it. A few months ago I was using my elk antenna making ISS digi QSO's
A lot of amateur radios are a problem for new users, I know I had problems at first.
Best thing you can do besides joining a club is to sit down with the radio and manual and go through basic operations like programming a frequency into the VFO and then saving it to memory and then move on to...
Nobody needs to kick you, you're probably beating your head against the wall because of selling the 847. The real question is, is how big of a birdie is it, can you hear it at 436.795 or 436.805? I think one guy posted on the amsat-bb that he got around the birdie by listening on AM(it's been...
I think a lot of hams thought about the IC-9100 until the price was released. I think the birdie was on 436.795, I am sure it was on the downlink of SO-50 and AO-27
