Hi Robb, if I am not in a hurry I order from Futurlec they ship from overseas and they have good prices, I have purchased a few times from them mostly electrolytic capacitors when repairing CB’s and it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks. Futurlec, The Electronic Components and Semiconductor Superstore
Looks like getting a gain master antenna might be a little thin for the next few months, H&Y said they wont have anymore till some time in June and just out of curiosity I called coppers and they said there out and don’t know when there getting any.
The antenna I was using before was a Hy-Gain super penetrator and as far can tell so far the local stations that I talk to on a regular basis hit me the same on the meter and getting reports that no change on what there getting me at, I am totally happy with that as I had my hy-gain stretched...
Ok I got the replacement antenna and all is fine with this one, H&Y looks to have opened the box to check it before they sent to me. its up in the air and working well. it sure is a broadband antenna 26mhz to 30mhz no antenna turner needed very nice..:thumbup1: so bottom line H&Y took care of me...
UPDATE! H&Y received the defective antenna back from me and has since shipped me another one due to arrive this Saturday. If all goes well assuming I get a good one and weather permitting I plan to put it up this weekend. I did notice that H&Y has pulled there Gain maters off ebay.
Wow that’s good to hear! I suggested that to them a couple years ago when I was ordering parts to rebuild a few penetrators I picked up locally. It should be a good seller if they can keep the price competitive.
A local guy ordered a gain master from coppers electronics and got it yesterday only to find out it was missing the upper wire assembly. The part where my coax was cut his had a crease at the same spot, Sirio needs to work on it's QC before the antennas leave the factory. Mine is on its way back...
10 meters has been great, and the band has been staying open most all day long lately, been making some good contacts both on SSB and FM. If you have an old CB laying around hook it up to a mobile antenna and park it on channel 6 it’s a great way to see if the band is open. 10 has been quite for...
Opps sorry for the double post.
Update: I just got an email from H&Y they said to send it back and they will send out another one and refund my shipping costs. Looks like I will have to wait a couple more weeks to get my new antenna, but least at this point they appear to be willing to...
Yep look to have been cut to me to, if this got boxed like this from the factory, there quality control sucks. I will wait to see how H&Y deals with this before I file a claim with ebay/paypal.

I purchased a new gain master antenna from H&Y Electronics ebay auctions only to find when opened the box it had a problem, the box was in good shape so it could not have happened during shipping I have contacted H&Y and they told me they forwarded the photos to Sirio and are waiting for a...
Thanks Loose cannon for the reply back, I hear ya on chasing the low power issues I have repaired a few of these radios for locals but this one is proving to be a bit of a challenge!
I did get the 2SC1969 from RF parts so I a am assuming that I got a good one, what I am seeing is a dead key max...
Just an update I had some time to work with the radio and found C152 capacitor was shorted I replaced it and the 12volts I was reading on the base of the final is gone. At that point I installed the new 2SC1969 and am now getting power out but only 3.5 watts but not able to get a bias reading(s)...
Thanks guys for the reply back I got a bit side tracked on working on this thing but will start in again this week.
The 2SC1969 is bad for sure but it is not the cause it just the end result, so far I got as far as removing it and the short circuit has gone away so the radio will at least...
Ok here it is I am working on a Cobra 2000 with the following problem:
When the radio is powered up it will draw approx 6amps in rx or tx and the final transistor gets very hot and there is no output power at all. When I pull the TP8 & TP7 wires off their pins the short goes away. I have been...
