Fiberglass antennas have generally been loaded at the top. But, yeah, with whip type antennas, kinda hard to put a coil of wire at the top of it. :D Center-loaded would be a compromise, like the "trucker" antennas.

Speaking of adapters... years later... I wonder if anyone has seen any adapters for the TRC-207 type antennas. Those are just a threaded female end on the radio. Would love to be able to adapt that to a female BNC.

Thanks for the update on that one. Years ago when I sent the info to Depfom, wasn't aware of the various CB standards around the world. Since I couldn't find a service manual, I marked the pot next to the audio transformer, and took a shot. Yea, that's the modulation adjustment.
