Went to a hamfest today. HAMCOM, in Plano, TX and there were quite a few
used rigs for sale. Some were very questionable and I passed on them.
I ended up getting a TenTec Jupiter ($775) with the latest firmware updates.
Years ago, I owned one of the original TenTec CW only rigs. MAN, have these...
Nice! I hope to get one one of these days. I cannot climb towers anymore.
So, the Hazer is about the best option. I just need to get someone to install
a tower now!

Interesting review. Thanks for posting. I did notice one thing. On the rear of the
radio it has a jack for CW. BUT, on the front, there is no CW mode that can be
selected. I read somewhere that that jack was mislabeled and was actually the
PA speaker jack. Too bad, it might be nice if the radio...
Ask a lot of people what Memorial Day is about, and quite a lot, will say it is a
holiday. Party time etc. NO IDEA what it is really about.
Some teens I've talked to are shocked that it is to remember our fallen servicemen/women. They just think it's another chance to party!!
Parents...
Dang, what a tough crowd!! $500 for a masterpiece and you're
carrying on like this??? :-)
Ya'll probably want egg in your beer too!
Seriously, I doubt he'll sell it at that price. Even my local CB shop that
had them couldn't get that. But, he did say he got $465 with P & T including
tax...
Moleculo,
Thank you for posting these videos! I'm hoping to see some of these
rigs in action at HAMCOM in Plano, TX June 8 & 9. I wish that Alinco would
post some of the specs on this radio on their website. Even though it's an
Alinco, it could be a decent radio. I'm glad to see more...
Went to the CB shop that was supposed to get some of the 955's yesterday. He got two of them in last Wednesday and sold both this last Friday. Said he got $465 for each one. (with his peak and tune and taxes included) He would not tell me how he converted the radios. But, he did say that neither...
Thanks for posting the photos. Flex's streaming video was very difficult to see.
Too bad this series of radios is priced outside my comfort zone.(wife might kill
me) Although, I almost put a deposit down on the 6500. But, sure as I do, work
will slowdown and I'll need or not have the money when...
Yep, $1,800 down payment and the rest due upon actual shipment. Sometime
around Christmas! (the deposit is refundable BEFORE ship date). I would be interested
in the $4000 model, if I had the bucks for it. It only supports 4 Slice receivers instead
of the 8 that the higher priced model has...
Nothing about it on their website that I could find yet. Hope this one makes it
into production! Alinco's prices are really not that bad for basic radios.

20 Meters has been wide open into Europe the last two evenings.
LOTs of big pileups. Looking at the SFI info and the A & K indexes,
it appears things are getting MUCH better!

I have seen them on a couple of websites listed as $389 plus extra for
peak and tune. Puts it over $400 plus tax. Still, a bit high priced to me.
I think I will wait and see some reviews. New rigs always tempt me. But,
when you get near $500 for a new, single band rig, that is a bit much.
It...
There is a new, in depth review on youtube:
Stryker 955HPC 10 Meter Radio Review Part 1 - YouTube
There are three videos in all. Very interesting. Reviewer does not show how
he goes about modding the radio. According to the manual, the radio is PC
programmable via a USB port. BUT, the manual...
I'm sure it can be lowered. But, why would you want to?
The TS-480SAT is a very nice rig. I have only used it on AM
a few times. Everyone said it sounded just fine.
You'll have to find a service manual . There is one available
online. It does included a lot of useful info including alignment...
Glad you were finally treated right. And glad you got the new toys! I had a TA-33 Jr years ago. (no WARC bands then) and for a simple, 3 element beam, it performed quite well. Having the Hazer is a nice feature. If I ever put another tower up, that is what I plan to do. My tower climbing days...
Cool ! I'm tempted to get on the waiting list for one of these.
Nice to hear that you are getting good support. I use a Flex 1500
QRP rig (5 Watts) and have a blast with it. QRP is fun and challenging.
Enjoy your new toy!

Same as posted above. Had one, liked it. But, it was as mentioned,
HEAVY..........had it mounted below the cubby hole in a 2007 Kenworth
and the darn thing kept making the hinged cubby hole panel drop down.
Sold it to one of the mechanics at work and he is very happy with it.
It's LOUD and works...
A thousand dollars for a qrp CB radio seems no bargain to me! I'd rather use it for what it is intended for. As a qrp HF Amateur Radio. And even then, that's a pretty steep price to pay. Originally, they were saying around $700 for the radio. Now, it's just under a grand.
Elecraft makes some...
