Contact your nearest ham radio club about the next testing session, or look for a nearby hamfest. Hamfests usually have VE testing sessions at least once during the fest.
Good luck.
I have to agree with Robb. Also, an amp wont do anything for the receive side, and communication is a two way street. The EPIRB is for just that sort of situation, which will occur once in a lifetime anyway. If you find yourself in the Life or Death situation more than once as a recreational...
Quote Robb "I think they should also integrate more sound controls into HF rig hardware - like the Flexradio/SDR stuff does. Like separate 10 band graphic EQ's for RX AND TX. More radios should have the options for SDR functions - as the Flexradio line does. The Kenwood software for the...
Mole,
No problem. There were a group of guys in my area who went to radio shack, bought some bluetooth stuff, hooked it up to their rigs and walked all over talking on the bluetooth earpieces to each other. It was funny cause they were always telling each other where they were now. Kinda like...
Sure, it will work. How well is the question. I have heard of many hams who mount a mag mount to a pizza pan or an air conditioner unit and get out just fine. I know it will be a lot better than an ht, and many use them exclusively with no problems. Give it a try.

Join the Siltronix 1011 yahoo group. They are a great bunch of guys. Not too active, but ask the question and they will help you out. Mine had an added cap in the vfo. Removed it and had all of 11 and all of 10, too. There are many things that could have been done, but those guys can help you...
Try pl-259s.
I use a big old weller dual wattage gun. No sweat. In and out in a couple of seconds, indoors or out. Tip reaches the holes with no problems. Won't set the house on fire if I drop it.
I owned a Roberts 40 channel mobile when they first came out. It was my first new radio. I believe they were sold by K-mart and others like that. Can't really offer more info though.
That guy is a nut and a flat out liar. Yeah, I said it. Look at all of his auctions and you will understand. I have never seen so many limited edition, special award, or owners private stock radio claims in my life. Cant believe he ever sells anything. He also claims to be a dealer for all sorts...
If your windows are wood, you can make a small incision in the bottom of the lower (or upper, if you wish) sash just large enough for the window to close and still let a RG58U coax pass through without it's being crushed. I use a drill at an appropriate angle to do the work, but a round file...
My advice on a rig is to wait for a short while. Visit your elmer, ask questions, read some more, and decide what you need in a radio before you jump in. Is there a club near you where you can see lots of radios and try them out? Hamfests are a great place to see lots of equipment, too. Speaking...
