Do you have the 4 or the 6? I am interested in the mileage you get. I have a friend with a 2000 ranger extra cab 2 wheel drive automatic with the 6 and he gets the absolute worst mileage I have ever seen. Around 10-11 mpg. What do you get?
Speaking of misnaming something.... mike is a persons name, either man or woman... MIC is the correct nickname for microphone. Sorry Jazz, I had to do it!:D
It all comes down to this. EBAY is a private company with certain rules it asks us to comply with if we want to use the service. If we don't follow those rules, they can and will take action. It is their sandbox and their rules. END OF STORY!
As others have hinted, it is illegal to transmit on the marine bands with that radio, or from land. Also, your ham license does not cover the marine bands. Just a friendly reminder.:D
Specs say 30 watts output and that it receives 27mhz, cb band, but that transmitting is" forbidden". Nice looking radio, kinda looks like a Titan or Titan II.
You have to adjust both wires at the same time and to the same position. Also, j-poles CAN be a bitch to tune. A copper 11m j-pole will be very heavy and hard to support.
It is also illegal to use the marine bands for anything other than marine safety use, and then only when your engaged in boating activities and actually on the water. I guess it could be modified if he is a ham, but it would be a heck of a lot easier to get a 2m rig to begin with. And it would...
What Jazzsinger said. Each element you add will mean starting all over with the tuning on every existing element, and the more you add, the more changes are going to be necessary. I would leave it as is, and build a new fan dipole for the additional bands you want to cover. Much simpler.
FCC quote:
This clarification was added to explicitly foreclose the possibility of certification of dual use CB and amateur radios, see id., and thereby deter use by CB operators of frequencies allocated for amateur radio use. ":bdh:
",so for me rules mean sh!t.
"
And there in those 6 little words is the root too all of mans problems!
PS: You got caught breaking the law. It was a long time ago. Get over it!
