mine was a straight 4 pill with the variable on the amp there wro220. the variable on the amp went shit house. did all kinds of weird things.i bypassed the variable and the swr went really high. had the variable fixed and now i use it as a foot stool and run my eastcoast straight 4 pill...

all you need to do is find a way to lengthen the antenna over all some to get the swr down on 27mhz. is it a 2 peice,? 3 peice.? maybe were the antenna is put together you can lenghten it out there. probably need to lengthen it 1 inch or so.

oh ok. im sure you have checked,but, what is the meter button on.?? the rf position.?? sometimes ill forget and leave mine on say the swr meter position and its like,wt hell. just a idea.hope ya get it figured out. great little radios.

is your mic gain botton in or out.out= more mic gain. in=less mic gain. makes a big difference on the ones i got.
