I do not find antennas daunting, you may be speaking for yourself. I do not hang around typical CB forums or any CB forum for that matter. I am not a troll either. What I like to point out is the needless urge for some people to express their incredible knowledge whilst reciting from a book sewn...
If I wire a Yaesu FT DX 1200 microphone to a Kenwood TS 480, will the up and down channel buttons work as they should? That is, do the circuits work in the same way by grounding the pins or what ever?
Thanks.
Road Squawker, what I said is correct. Why do you pretend to be some kind of aficionado, the feed line impedance has nothing to do with the fundamentals of standing wave ratio that I was pointing out. Please refrain from crossing out my posts in the future.
I reckon Bob85 is full of shit. There are not enough parameters to calculate anything. This could be a low and insulting blow against CBers. I could be wrong about this, he may very well believe in his own bullshit. Be aware of people spreading crap, and don't fold to people just because they...
I don't think road squarker fixed anything. I think the lesson in this is to not pay too close attention to your SWR because in most cases, it does not translate to much.
I've got an A99, but I'll take my chances, never had a problem. If lightning strikes it will strike. What damage it will cause, who knows, it's up to the gods. I will cross that bridge if I ever come to it. Maybe your friend should have bolted his kitchen cabinets on properly.
I just have a single copper rod ground on the base of the antenna mast at the moment. Have one directly outside the shack but don't use it anymore. I know, people are going to say why, what are you doing? But I don't care, I do fine with what I have with no ill effects and less complication...
I heard a little American skip on 38 today here in Mexico... Victoria Australia that is. Could be warming up for something, have noted some unusual conditions lately.
You're likely to run into trouble with 1/8 wave spacing, 1/4 is tricky enough. The effects associated with mutual coupling is magnified so much in my opinion that you would need the equipment to do the practical to get anywhere near knowing what's going on. Very complicated technically, too hard...
Cheap jokes about CBers is not an opinion. Aside from this, Wavrider has obviously made some statements which defy basic logic and nobody has pulled him up on it. Funny considering that the joke about CBers started with them not abiding by physics.
I'm not trying to start a fight here, was just...
Wavrider, I am not trying to argue about radio sensitivity, there were posts about this which were beyond my control and again, irrelevant to the original discussion. For your information though, I have dedicated CB radios that have the same or better sensitivity than most Ham radios. But we...
