    Element spacing

Without a doubt something has changed, common sense dictates that changing the antenna's dimensions has to have some effect on performance. Theory would suggest an increase in gain due to the longer boom length. It's not that the antenna was a lump of coal before, and now it's a diamond due to a...

    Element spacing

Exactly. I previously had a four element 11M quad on a 16 ft. boom, when I recently put it back up I went with a 20 ft. boom. After all the re-tuning was said and done, I now have the same antenna on a 20 ft. boom, no noticeable difference performance-wise.

huge leap forward in helicopter technology

I did that once, many years ago, I had a great pic of a copter with the rotor frozen. People wanted to know why I didn't have any pics of the crash scene.

    Maco103c Goodbye!

I've been lucky with my quads handling the wind and ice here on the shores of Lake Erie. The fiberglass spreaders I'm using aren't tapered like the old Comet/Shooting Star design, but are solid straight fiberglass. Actually they are golf course flagsticks from a local course that was replacing...

    Edible Weeds

We serve the greens wilted down with a warm sweet/sour bacon dressing. Also good on other greens such as spinach, and various lettuces.

    Edible Weeds

I gather fiddleheads, as well as dandelions and wild leeks (ramps) when they are in season. Still a bit early yet here in NW PA, we still have snow on the ground. Won't be gathering any free edibles till sometime in mid- to late-April.

    Have a Coke?!?

I purchase granulated citric acid from a local pharmacy for my brass cleaning. It's cheap (Amazon has it for around $9/lb.), safe, and easy to use. Just mix it with water, give the brass a soak, rinse with clear water, and let dry. I've been using this method for over 25 years without a problem...

If I'm not mistaken, the film clip is from the now defunct sitcom Reno 911 that aired a few years back.

This logically then brings up the debate over which is more powerful, tube watts or pill watts? :confused1:

    Mobile Microphones

Of all the mics I've tried over the years, I keep coming back to the Astatic 575, the D104-M6 with Bob85's mod, or the 2018 Extreme with the noise crap turned OFF. For a N/C mic, it's either a SkyThumper or the SRA-198. Just my $.02.

    Attic Discovery

The 100 Bilinear is circa mid-70's, sold under various names such as Bimbo and Hooker. The PEP/RMS switch is nothing more than a HI/LO switch. I have one with a pr. of PT7984's in it, switchable between 60 and 90 watts (IIRC) with a stock CB driving it. First amp I ever bought, the only thing I...

CB antennas on 10 meters. WHY NOT??!!??

Perhaps more 11M antennas would be used on 10M if the operators were aware of the audio gain to be realized.
