Just trying to get an opinion

Sounds to me like someone's confusing talkback with echo?

    New Antenna Project

Wow, 92 views and only one reply? I was hoping somebody over here had tried modding a PDL before. Where's MC when you need him? Doc- I wasn't thinking of making something on a 48 ft. boom, it's just what I have available. I'm sure something around 30 ft. or so will suffice.

    New Antenna Project

I'm thinking of re-doing the antenna farm; moving my Imax from the chimney mount to tower #1 replacing my 2 element quad. The 4 element flatsider on tower #2 will be replaced with something large with switchable polarity, something like a 6 or 8 element long boom design. My question for the...

    2 Element Quad

I know there were a few listed on Amazon last fall. It is a good reference manual, mine's gotten a lot of use over the years.

    2 Element Quad

Another source for fiberglass is by using the flagsticks from a golf course. They work great in conjunction with aluminum tubing for the spreaders. I have a friend who's the Head Greenskeeper at a local country club for my source. So make friends with your local groundskeeper. (Another way...

High SWR with Wilson Trunk Lip Mount

I also recently had the exact same experience switching from a W5000 magmount to the trunk mount. Magmount swr was flat, trunk mount was 3:1, antennas were placed in exactly the same location on the trunk lid. Lid has braided straps going to body, good metal to metal contact all around...

    Is Wilson Antenna Closing

Sparky posted the other day on his site that Wilson was going under unless someone bought them out. People on other Forums have been posting that suppliers are out of stock. I bought a few plus some pcs./parts for mine just in case it's true. BTW, my supplier hadn't heard anything about them...

    Funny things heard on CB

Not sure if this is funny or just sad, but I over heard it last week. The local "King of the Band" was astounding his minions with his CB knowledge. Seems he's running a 1x4 amp into a 10x2879 FatBoy, with 4 batteries and a 200A motor maul and is "seeing 6KW all day, everyday". But he...

    Snow storm

Here in the NW corner of PA, we're currently under two weather warnings, high winds and winter storm. Sunday thru Monday possible 6-12" new lake effect snow, 20-40 mph winds, 55 mph gusts. Wind chill factors down to -10F. Definitely looks like a white Xmas.

Info on Model M-117 Super Magnum antenna

What info are you looking for? I had one as a kid back in the mid-60's for my first base antenna. Sold locally for $29.95-$32.95, advertised gain was 3.75 dB IIRC. The red plastic cover on the loading coil will sunfade to a delicate pink hue, swr will go up slightly in rainy weather till it...

Please help me decide which 4 element beam to get

The 4 element Cubex quad should theoretically out-perform the 4 element yagi beams as the gain is "roughly" the equivalent of a 5 element yagi due to the higher gain of the full wave driven loop. Not a substantial amount, around 1.2 dB or so. YMMV. And you're correct about the quad being...

INFO ON ANTENNAS THAT WERE DUG OUT OF THE GARAGE

Years back in the early 90's I used the Solarcon (Antron then) with a magmount on a Mustang GT, modded Cobra 148, TS DX250. It worked well; below ch.1, above 40,as well as regular 40. The stinger that came with it was too short and would not tune until I replaced it with a longer stinger...

    AGITATORS

Use FM on the RC channels. Years back that would drive the people with the cheaper radios nuckin' futs.

    FIREBIRD 500

Tubes are 6je6c, 1 driving 3. I have two, one with variable, one without. I never ran more than 3 to 3 1/2w d/k into mine. It's been a while since I've had one of them in line, but if memory serves me, on the lowest setting I was getting around 160-180w d/k. On SSB, again if I remember...

    skythumper n/c mics

I'm currently using the ST-65DX with a Galaxy 88. Reports from reliable people are that it's louder and has a deeper tone than my 636L. As previously stated, it is lightweight, I actually prefer the feel of the 636. Just my $.02.

    Very helpful

I'm still confused. What do you do if the mic button is on the right hand side? Maybe there'll be another installment forthcoming........

    Turner question

Thanks BM, I probably just should've gone to the Heil site initially. Looks like the HC-5 will fit with no problems, according to Heil. $45 is a bit more than I had intended on spending, but then nobody ever said quality was cheap! See ya around........
