FCC Officially Releases Report and Order

It took long enough...

    ARRL and FCC, good reading:

Although I'm a ARRL member and get the mag every month, I keep my ears tuned to the local repeaters. Sometimes someone will mention wanting to get rid of a few years of mags. I jump in and find out when & where to pick them up. A couple of years ago I got several years of CQ mags from the 70's...

I thought maybe Santa brought you a IC-7800 or Orion. On second thought.... You wouldn't be crazy enough to get rid of a good radio for either one of those. I would trade my 850 for a 7800 but ONLY so I could sell it and take the BIG $$ and buy LOTS more 850's :D

    ARRL and FCC, good reading:

While I don't agree with LOTS about the ARRL, They are the only "Gun in town" and do good things at times. The BPL fights are some of the good things I'm happy about. The QST Mag has some nice articles and projects also.

    AO-51 !

Here is a link to the plans I used to build the quagi... http://members.aol.com/n2kbk/quagi.html . I used 3/4" pvc pipe,a 4-way fitting and short pieces of pipe to support the driven then a short pipe back to another 4-Way fitting etc for the reflector then about 24" piece of pipe for the...

    AO-51 !

Them birds can be fun! I made a 8 el quagi out of welding rod and 3/4" pvc pipe and have used it hand held with a HT! Just stand out in the yard when the bird flies over, Large set of headphones on, HT in one hand, quagi in the other. Swing the quagi back and forth,up and down kinda like a blind...

Best learner beginner cheapo set up?

Just in case someone else reads this and is wondering about a cheap set up.... I too vote for the Bencher. It's by no means the "best" but works well. I can tap out 40wpm +/- with no problem. The main thing is keeping it clean and adjusted to what feels good to you.

End of An ERA FCC to Drop Code

There is also more spectrum for phone use with the extra.

    End of an Era

Jay I agree. The MAIN REASON the ARRL wanted to keep CW was because of all the retired OF's with the $$ and lifetime memberships. I'm a member because it's the ONLY "big" voice we have and they do -some- good. I'm afraid if there were another large organization no matter how good the intentions...

    Howdy....been a loooooong time

I still have that "Junkyard" antenna. I also still have the Eagle 500 and all the spare tubes I got from you that day  Good to see you posting again. I guess we both needed a little break from things. Heck I look forward to a QSO with you anytime. Maybe even another eye ball QSO sometime...

    Technician pool

Good advice. Also try to find a local club. They will help you and may be able to give you the test. DO NOT think most Hams are like what you see on the internet. I met the local club here when I was parked on top of a hill with a I-Max 2000 leaning against my tow truck during a CDX contest. The...
