Im going to try and make one of these today to see how it works. Lots of other commercial filters that do the same thing are $70, and this one seems pretty straight forward and inexpensive. Anyone else had any luck with this in the last few years since it was posted. I know this works for...
In the meantime I will probably just use one of the fiberglass CB antennas that I have and only have 10-12 coverage. I've tried these and noticed that noise level was WAY higher with the fiberglass antennas than with the screwdriver all tuned to the same band. The noise level on AM went from S1...
You make some valid points, but the Netherlands is not the US, and we have a different set of problems which are more complex that yours. We are a much more diverse nation with much more diverse problems.
The 102 whip is definitely something I considered especially due to the fact I don't think it would be too lossy in the 10-20 meter range. I also just realized that the title of the thread is wrong. I was looking for an antenna for 10-20 not 10-12. The only problem with the 102" is that the...
What mobile antenna for 10-20
I have a screwdriver antenna that works very well on 6-80, but I would like to use something like a whip or fiberglass antenna that can take a pounding when off-road and be replaced on the cheap when the time comes. I can run the screwdriver when I am back on...
Why are you using the Yaseu when you have the ICOM that has UHF/VHF already? Even though the ICOM covers the same thing as the HR-2510, I can understand you wanting to use it due to the reported audio quality (never had one don't know first hand). Seems like you could do some consolidating?
Thanks for the link. I don't participate in freebanding but I do find it interesting. Occasionally I like to listen to the conversations there. I find it amazing how most people there are having a casual conversation while potentially racking up such a large fine. It also amazes me how much more...
It really is a good radio if you are into CB, the only downside is that it locked up tighter than Ft. Knox, at least for now. I always had good reports on mine although I am not the biggest CB user.
Nice mobile setup for sure. The ball-mounts on the side scare me though. I wanted to put one on mine but was afraid of ripping it off on something, especially off road.
Thanks for the update. I hate when these threads just end with no conclusion. I think you are over estimating the tech license though. I got mine after about two hours of study. Not to mention the built in network of equipment and volunteers on 2 meters just dying to help someone in distress.
Even though I sold my 980, I am still interested. I believe that I got around 14 out on SSB and that was on a AGM battery only. Should be slightly higher actually installed on a running vehicle. I think I got around 10 or so out on AM under the same circumstances.
