Ive had good reports on mine. And when conditions were right have made some dx contacts on the stock 12w SSB. I also use an astatic 636 with the adapter.
What's the story with these. Local shop has a couple in the shelf. Are they as good as the president grant with a different face or just all together a different radio. Not really into CB too much but it's hard to pass up a must have if its worth it. FWIW, they also had some had some pc76's too
Not me. Unless I was getting some great conditions at night! Nah I wasn't on 39LSB, my antenna is cut for 10m and I need a tuner before I can get on 11m without hurting the radio.
I may have jumped the gun. Could have been my SWR meter acting up on me or a loose connection but I tested for quite awhile tonight and everything on SSB was as it should be. I'm getting full power on SSB and AM, although I wouldn't mind being able to bring the top end adjustment on AM down a...
Well, it looks like I'm having problems with the SSB side of things. Power is all over the place but mostly very low. I'm not sure exactly what to think, but AM power seems to be very strong. I'm going to see what this thing does but it looks like I will be calling Magnum for support.
I'm going to have to look at this more... My AM power is nearly 100w and my SSB power is around 20. Brand new Magnum 257HP. SSB had been up to 70 then seemed to creep down to 50, now it's barely 20.
Yes. I am recalibrating after adjusting power
Using the analyzer, I adjusted the antenna until it was resonate on my exact desired frequency. R was right at 50 +/- 1 and x=0. SWR was a flat 1:1
That sucks but it looks like it might have been an issue with my coax run. Once I untangled my...
I used a antenna analyzer to dial my antenna in exactly on a frequency. When I hook up my radio and different SWR meter, I get similar/identical readings on low power (1w DK). When I raise the variable power, the SWR goes way up, like up from 1:1 to 2:1. Is there something that I should be...
