I saw data came over last night some time. He had it Wide1-1, 2-1. I'm not that familiar with all. I won't get a chance to talk to him till Thursday. I think I'm going to get one of those cheap SDR receivers, the one that goes 100k to 1.7G.
All of the plots on wiki look linear to me. If you mess with the scale then you can make the pattern look almost like anything. You're supposed to be able to use the plot to figure out the half power beam width.
That's not the point, and besides the dxForums and other links on top are still available and seem just as forum related as the ones that disappear . Why replace these useful links with empty black? I know that is probably a ZenFro thing.
BTW, they disappear when you are looking at a forum...
Two things are lingering. I noticed that half the time, the "New Posts" link is not there. The whole nav bar is suppressed sometimes. It just seems harder to find things still, like this thread. I had to use the search. The search worked fine, but I had to use it. The new posts list missing...
It's in, but have not figured out all the kinks. It will beacon, we just cannot get it up on aprs.fi. I ordered one yesterday.
I know the marketing bills this as a transceiver, so I guess it should receive and decode APRS as well. That we'll have to test.
Captain, sorry to hear of the father in-law.
All of the numbers I have are in dBi at angular increments. I understand how to normalize that data set (to get 0 dBi on outer ring).
I am wondering what is the industry standard/correct scale for these kinds of plots (which I assume is shown in my...
So the plot I'm trying to duplicate is in the PDF above (http://www.telewave.com/pdf/TWDS-7041.pdf). Someone suggested that is from an ARRL application, maybe a software component of the collection supplied with the handbook?
Otherwise, plotting on a log scale does not work because the numbers...
I still had one question. The "linear" data we have is gain data. I can plot this in Excel, but the scale is not the same as in the sample above, which looks like a log scale or is "compressed". I need to transform the data so it plots correctly. Any idea of the transform?
Ok, we are going to publish both plots. One of the engineers here liked that orientation, but it sure confused me at first. Some of our other reference data is plotted on a linear scale too. It's frustrating how inconsistent the data is. Most of the published data I've seen though just had...
So you don't regret selling it?
Something about it was a disappointment, but I forgot what it is now...
I thought the 450 looked fine, but also heard a bit more noise over reliability than I'd expect.
I'm looking at antenna radiation plots and am seeing the octopus image for both E- and H-planes.
I thought one plane was vertical, and that I would not understand the use for when discussing horizontally polarized Yagis, but if it were plotted I would expect more of an omni pattern. So what is...
I saw the chat window running up there and the thought just popped into my mind, where are flame wars going to spill?
Maybe it's a moot point? Are the chats logged, or do they just fall off at the horizon?
