Has anyone ever used the Elecraft XV144 2m Transverter ?? I am thinking of getting one so I can do satellite operations on my Flex 5000. Flex has discontinued the VU5K module, but it was like $1300. I already have a UHF down converter that works awesome, just need the 2m transverter to get it...

Looks like more than enough room for a rectangle loop antenna, if you can get all 4 corners up about 30 feet or so it should do the job pretty well.

Lets see I managed to work AO-7, VO-52 and just worked FO-29 with some DX stations as well. I have to head out to work in an hour so I am done for the day. Keep at it and tune around on the bird I worked at least one station on all of those passes..

I talk to myself a lot on the SSB birds, not a lot of folks on them. Thats why I work the two remaining FM birds, they are always busy.

Its only about 30' off the ground, my tower is bracketed to the house and its about 8 feet above the peak. Its a small two story house.

Nope it works pretty well for a small beam and I run about 500 to 700 watts with out a problem. Worked some DX this morning on 15 with 59 + signals into Europe..

What makes this easy is the ability to download a copy of anyone's license from the FCC license server. I think the rule looks pretty good !

Yup it will work on any Flex Radio running PSDR. You just need to download the modified PSDR from the web link in my original post, install the drivers for the controller and plug and play away !

Yup thats the one !! Just came in today and was easy to install. There are so many options with the modified PSDR software I am having trouble trying to figure out how I want to configure it.. :scared:

I cant remember who told me about the High Sierra Microwave the 432M7 is the one I purchased and it works awesome. Since people are paying a ton of money for discontinued Icoms or Yaesu's this is the best way to go with a rig thats still in production.. Amateur Radio Satellite Products

I actually just found a glitch in the SO2R operation. If VFO A is on a LSB band and VFO B (2nd RX) is on a USB band and you click the TX for VFO B it transmits on the wrong mode LSB instead of USB so it must be using the Main VFO's TX Profile without altering the mode...:sad:

Well the testing took longer than I expected. I had to change out the UHF beam as I was having lots of trouble with the Gulf Alpha. I then injured my hand while lowering the mast to change out the beam, so add another 2 weeks. Now the beam has been changed out and everything is back in place. (...
