yikes!
i have washed nasty rigs before and its fine if you pull water sensitive parts first.
like meters.and good luck getting water out of that channel selector.its hard enough to get deoxit in it!but i rinse with 99% isopropal and oven dry them.not leave it wet overnight to rust like this...
look at the 5th pic.the chong near the mod trans is already bulging!
and the big cap by the copper is lifted off the board without rtv,hot glue, ect to secure it.will vibrate and break off in a mobile.
chong are well known junk caps.
and there is brown glue still on the board.that was more of an...
good deal if cosmetically good.
gotta change all the yec(yech!) caps.
the old rigs are making a comeback to the point they are worth rehabbing.
i have 2 cobra 2000 in line for a makeover.
best part is they are unmolested stock units.
no peckertracks to clean up or nasty mods/hacks.
got an older...
the last 2 i did required full recap and removal of all that evil brown glue.
uniden didnt learn anything from the cap fiasco with the sat receivers did they.still used those trash yec brand caps.
while the rigs "worked"the audio was poor tx and rx.
i used panasonic fc series as that is the...

could be lighting a grow room or a driveway.
the attitude of your neighbor suggests its his grow room.
time to point out your findings to the power company and fcc.
let him be a dick to them:wink:
since the d cell was just introduced around that time i doubt "toys" had yet been developed.so broomsticks were definitely in their future.

not a chance in hell!
been there done that debunking supposed "improvements" in the past myself.
best is the 2scxxxx has twice the dissapation and should therefore double the output.even though i showed it had 25% of the gain of the original.which of course you have to drive it harder to realise any improvement...
this is almost as good as the audiophools having to "break in" their new $10k oxygen free gold lanthanum speaker cables.otherwise they are harsh and cold.
thats stupid!
its like stripping an original vette and putting the drivetrain of a CHEvette in it.
i have only ever declared 1 of these trams B E R.
that one had a house burn to the ground around it!
same with brownings.
i was the main repairman for these rigs back in the day.
did have to...
you will soon need tubes if you insist on flogging it with that jb150.
a set of new ones cost more than 2 of those units are worth.
the guys that did that back in the day were lucky to go more than a month without failure.
not to mention the splatter!
and the sharks wont eat either of them out of "professional courtesy".
not to mention there isnt enough tums or peptobismol to counter that case of indigestion!
that thing is a collection of parts better used to make a decent amp with.
i have a xl250 here that is more complete but have no desire to repair.
if you do fix it up i would change over to el509/519 tubes.
but its likely a waste of time and money.sweep tube amps were tolerated back in the...
you would want to use 2 pairs in paralell(4 wires) for power to cut the drop and use one pair for audio and audio ground to reduce rfi pickup but other than that it should do just fine.
