It didn't have echo it had a volume and tone control I still have a new one in the package. Want to keep it for myself. Beware the early ones had a slight hum something about a ground inside the mic but the later ones had that changed in production.

I use a Texas Star 500 with my OPTIMA and it works very well together even the locals say it's nice clean audio

Go look at the MaxLog 8800 it's the same radio, I have a version 8 one and it works great

Well I pulled the trigger and bought one, nice radio, gets out well but the recieve audio stinks, I've tried Motorola, Johnson, Radio Shack, GE speakers and all sound raspy to me the only thing that is kind of ok is an old Sony computer speaker. The real I com 36 has Japan on the back at the bottom also the HM-12 works well and there were no chink copies.

The Quad radio is the same as a Anytone Version 6., Good radio but there are a lot of better choices, Stryker 955HP I like a lot but the best radio in my collection and I have a lot of radios is the Yeticom Optima, it just does it all and does it a little better than them all. My 2 Cents

Go to Yeticom NZ and look at the new Dragon 485, I'll bet Magnum will have it's own version soon with their name on it

I've had mine for about a year now and love it no AGC issues just a good all around radio

Does anyone have one of these and if so does it drift all over the place? I'm trying to get a friends radio to stop the drifting, I changed the Voltage Regulator to a S817 and replaced the crystal with a new one from International Crystal and this bugger still drifts until it's on over 2 hours...
