I picked up a used one awhile back and FM seems to work fine but on SSB even with squelch down, it still squelch's (no hisssss). Is this normal for this rig?

In the Houston area I find 440 more active than 2meters, and there seem to be a few newbies arriving each month. It probably varies from location to location.

Hmmm.....I don't know if Motorola would be low man on the totem pole. They had a strong name brand recognition, and many law enforcement/firefighter departments used them in their vehicles....but I could be wrong.

I'm not talking "exports", just plain type accepted CB's. Got to thinking about it the other day when someone mentioned Midland (and certainly they are a front runner), but Rat Shack has sold a ton of that stuff over the years, and then there's Uniden and Cobra...Just curious what you think, or...
