Question for all you antenna tinkerers here. I have a 10 meter dipole in the garage attic now and just got an hf rig that will do 6 meters. Is there any way to cut the dipole and install a trap on each side and make it 10 and 6 meters? If so I need to know how many wraps and what diameter it...

The poll didn't ask whether base or mobile. For a base my vote is a 2970n2 with a switch in the back to turn off the amp,very easy to dial in a freq. For mobile I like the AT6666 due to it's smaller size.

So if people,especially hams,are so irritated by "roger beeps", then why does just about every repeater have a "courtesy tone"? Serves the same purpose. And the tones the Motorola's make on unkey? There's other worse things in life to get your panties in a bunch over.

I see that RCI 2970's can have an optional tone board installed for repeater work. Anybody know where to find one?

I have a 10 amp,23 amp and a 45 amp power supplies. My question is can the outputs all be tied together in paralell and run into one terminal block?

I just picked up a Baofeng UV5R for under $20 w/free shipping. Instructions are a little vague but I did get freq's in memory. I can't find in the manual how to scan the memories. Anybody know how to make it scan?

Stay away from the red devil mike. Like so many Astatic's the ptt switches are so crappy they sound like you're scrubbing it with steel wool when keyed.

I had the HP version in my Jeep for a while but had to take it out due to all the fuel pump noise,about 3/4 scale. Went to a 6666 and much better now.

My Anytone's seem like great products so far. Too bad there's no factory support. That's their biggest downfall. If you buy one and have problems you're up the creek.

The meters are only about $20. I'm just not electronically inclined enough to install it.
