Almost looks like a 480....
But with 2 meters and 440. I would love to have the version with the 4 meter band. Probably will not be available in the US version.
Not even coming anywhere near me, now. Well, at least I got both gen sets out, fueled and did load tests for an hour or so.
We did have a very large tree branch come down, in horse pasture and spend all day Saturday cleaning it up.
Just a reminder for all, Hurricane watch net on Tuesday...
EX-RARE???? I guess they started making them again.:headbang
I think they went for around the same price he is asking. Never heard one on the air the whole time I was on FM, probably due to the cost.
The guy probably thinks it's a telephone, due to the DTMF mic.
I understand all the business stuff, as I used to own a small business.
I just prefer to build my own, because I like to, and have the skills, and tools to do so. Often, the time spent hunting down parts can exceed the cost of a commercial built unit alone.
Lots of hams who are not...
I work in public safety radio and just got a new APX 6000. What is really cool is the NTN2572A Bluetooth earpiece/microphone. Audio quality in the APX seems to be improved over the older models. P25 sounds better than Astro.
If I wear a suit and tie, I can now look like Secret Service...
Sorry, Mr. Dummy Load!
A good alternative to a G5RV is a Windom or OCF dipole. Many manufacturers sell them, if you don't want to roll your own.
Buxcomm is a nice one, but expensive, due to the hight quality stranded copper wire used in it's construction.
Looks very nice inside! I see they did an excellent job of grounding the grids. My SB-220 has a caps off some of the grid pins to ground and a .22 ohm resistor off one pin. That method of grounding the grids was supposed to improve IMD, but results in less power output. I am going to ground them...
I would NOT clean the relay contacts. You could damage the coating on them, then you will have problems. However if you feel you must "clean" them, just run a business card through them, once.
All 6 meter, 2 Meter and 70 CM SSB operations are on horizontal. The Cushcraft seem to be expensive compared to the M2 loops, which are sold by AES and other ham equipment dealers.
Another advantage of horizontal polarization is a little better immunity to man made noise.
I would go with LMR 600 or half inch Heliax if the run is 100' or more. It is desirable to keep line losses below 1 db on 6 meters and above, if possible.
Looking for something. Tried a Motorola mobile speaker, did not like it. What I DID like is the Boston Acoustics off my stereo system, WOW! Don't want to loose my stereo speakers though. Thinking of going to Radio Scrap and see what kind of inexpensive stereo speakers they have.
What are you...
Tune to a frequency with no activity, just atmospheric noise. Take the antenna off. Did the noise drop? If so, sensitivity is fine. If no change, a preamp may be needed. Or an alignment.
